Just a quick one, how long can we expect it to take for the New Zealand Nursing Council to grant registration once all the paper work has been forwarded.

Biggest bear bug...and Mrs M is really having a go, why does she have to do a IELT......................being English and having studied at a UK University........as well has completed another half degree with the Open University?

Keep telling her £105 will be a small price to pay for us to get over to New Zealand.... :-)

It took about 5 months for me.

About 2 months into the process, the Nursing Council requested some further info from my nursing school, my nursing school e-mailed it a day after I requested the info, a few weeks later I contacted the Nursing Council and they said they had not received it. Resent the same info to the same e-mail address provided....contacted Nursing Council another week later and they still hadn't received it. Finally, I got an e-mail from them a few days later and they said that the e-mail was in their "junk folder" and a week later I had my registration.

Just be sure to follow up on anything sent to the Nursing Council.

Good luck!

Hi There

We luckily got our registration done just before the new year when the new language rules came in.

NZNC were very quick for us just 6 weeks or so, the subsequent annual practicing certificate took another couple of months to get through though

good luck

About the IELTS, as you may not have seen other threads on this subject. Several people also with first-language English have said how difficult they found these tests - let's face it, we're not used to being interrogated on how we use our mother-tongue. It's really worth finding the practice tests online, to get some forewarning of what to expect.

My registration only took a few days when I applied in November. (Maybe I caught them at a good time?)

We applied mid April, and have subsequently had to send additional information. We are currently waiting paiiently. I agree about IELTS - it's a small price to pay for a very valuable piece of paper. Once submitted it is well worth following up. The key is to get a file reference number and a contact person on their side. I would recommend couriering all documents and sending a courtesy email the moment the courier company confirms delivery.

Looks as though we now have all the paperwork to forward to NZ Nursing Council. OH got her IELTS result back this morning.... She achieved a level 1, being the highest pass. Little disappointed myself, I wanted to give her a bit of ribbing if she didn't get the top score.....:):):)
