I am really excited to find this forum. I have been on it non stop the last couple of days but this is my first post.

I submitted my EOI a few days ago and I am hoping to have it selected in this selection (June 17th). If it is selected how long will they take to notify me? Will the change of status show up on my home page today?

Thanks and PLEASE send positive thoughts

Hi there.
I don't know if they send an email (can't remember...) but I do know you can log into your online suitcase on the NZIS site and see your status. I believe the selection is done by 1pm NZ time and posted shortly after that.

welcome to the forum! :nice1

it's great! lots of great advice and lots more to keep your sanity through this process.

If I remember correctly we got a letter through the post about 2 weeks after the selection to let us know that we had been selected but yes, as previous poster says, usually you can log on to your on-line bit on the website and it will say 'selected' the same day as the selection happens.

do you have a job offer? if not, could be in for a bit of a wait to get 'decision successful' once they've processed your EOI. We waited about 8 weeks for a decision without a job offer.

Good luck

Thank you for your reply. I am super excited and not at all productive today (hopefully I will get an answer because otherwise I will continue on as a nervous wreck:). I will be checking the site sometime after 1pm NZ time...

No job offer but solid points (135). I am assuming the wait your referring to will be after I am selected and Have submitted my corroborating documentation. Is that correct?

Thanks for your reply and good wishes

After you are selected they will look over your point claims. If they decide they are plausible they will either ask you for more information or ask you to prove it in the ITA.
I wrote up a basic outline of the process here:

hi there

i think our timeline went something like this (can't remember exact dates)
we sent in our online EOI in June 08 and got selected 2nd July 08. unfortunately this is the wait I was talking about because we then heard nothing from NZIS until September 08 when our online status changed from 'selected' to 'decision successful' which basically just means they've checked your EOI and they have decided to invite you to apply for residence.

After that we got an Invitation to Apply straight away which is only when you submit all your documentation. we submitted our ITA & docs etc in December and waited until April to get a Case Officer and then May to have our interview (which you have to have without a job offer) and the finally got Permanet Residence in May 09. So from start to finish the whole process took us just under a year!!!

Good luck with the process! It is a waiting game unfortunately, but you get there in the end.:nice1

Congratulations to both of you and thanks for the time line. I will certainly post an update (one way or the other) when I know if I have been selected.

WOW...Just checked and I HAVE been selected. Is there anything I can or should do at this point? Do I just wait?

Thanks for all your responses. YAY YAY YAY

well done :)

the process involves a lot of waiting around I'm afraid - what will happen now is that your application will be put in a pile of all those selected today and they will be assessed, this could be slow or quick, but without a job offer it's normally a bit slower... so don't go holding your breath just yet! :D

what will happen once you have been assessed? Well, you can have a look at that in Becky's link :)
