doesn't sound like a very big survey base to be honet - 2000 people over 12 countries, all with Natwest Internation bank accounts presuambly...

Jeepers!!! That article gives out such a 'rose-tinted' view of life here doesn't it. What's all this about???? Have they come up trumps on the Lotto or something :

'Six out of ten left Britain with less than £5,000 in savings. But almost half now claim to be worth between £250,000 and £500,000'.

Is it just me or are others finding that their shopping bills tend to go up and up????:exit

???? Even within the article it's bizare. Average house price is fractionally more than half of the UK house price (using their figures), but wages are about 40%. Therefore how is housing more affordable? Especially with significantly higher interest rates?

And 80% earn £50k-85k?? Excellent. So between myself and my wife then there's a 65% chance we'll both be earning that.

T-shirts in winter? Not today, I don't think so. :laugh

Favourable tax and the lowest house prices in the developed world. I wonder what planet they are on.

Well at least that's one article that didn't mention racism and homophobia when discusing NZ.

Well, maybe in Northland ;) This morning on stuff.co.nz they had a photo of a sheep with snow covering its eyes. Oh to love snow and live in Dunedin :D (not me! :exit )

had to laugh at some of the comments, gotta agree, i wish they didn't rose tint it quite so much, after all if everybody moved there it would lose its appeal!

ETA: when i visited in the winter i wore a t-shirt for most of the day! Also can remember wearing about 5 or 6 layers while up mount ruapehu tho!

that's because you were on holiday and you MUST wear a t-shirt at all times, it's the rules :)

Try Hawke's Bay then :p... while winter evenings and mornings are pretty nippy, by midday many people are walking round in tee shirts. Gets lovely and sunny quite often in winter.

Isn't there a great irony in the Daily Mail running an article promoting expat life in NZ - take the chance, it's great, make loads of money with low taxes and a better quality of life. And then the next page will be 'Britain still being flooded by foreign immigrants coming over here just for our better standard of life.......'

Had the same with my parents, bleating about immigrants (they are retired now, so not as if their jobs were at risk). This was as I was driving them to the airport for a 6 month trip to Spain to see if they liked it there before moving out there.
