Hi All
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a container shipped from the UK to NZ in 4 weeks?
The reason we ask is our container is arriving on July 15th (approx 8 weeks after it left our house) but we had asked for it to be stored in the UK for 1 month prior to shipping.
This will land us in the perverbial as we weren't expecting it to arrive before mid August giving us a bit of time to find work etc. We have also just signed up to a fully furnished place for 3 months!
We did ask the shipping company last night to delay it a further month or so (thinking of not shipping at all) due to the work situation being dire at the moment and we don't want to have to ship it all back again in a couple of months if we go back to the UK.
Just when we were starting to enjoy a stress free life...hahahah

We've been told the shipping journey takes 35-38days, that's not including inspections.

Ask them for evidence of when it left the UK. Storage is pretty cheap in some places in NZ (I looked into Hastings as was pleasantly surprised- OMG how I wish we'd stuck with my plan of storing our stuff and 'trying' Oz for 6 months ....).

Hi All
Yep just had it confirmed from the NZ side that the container was shipped 4 days after it left our house.
We are emailing the UK side to ask what the **** happened to the months storage. Can't stop the container arriving and it's probably going to cost us storage this side + tax so we are not happy bunnys but we need to make the best of this situation. It does mean we've got our stuff on this side of the world. Just hope we don't have to send it all back again.
Deep breath....

Did you specify UK storage? If not then the removals may have been attempting to be helpful. Ie if the container was stored here for 4 weeks, then delayed by a month enroute you'd be without your stuff for ages. By sending ASAP and plannign to store in NZ then it gave them some breathing space, and in their mind still provided what you wanted - transit of goods and an 12 week delivery date.

Hi
Just an quick update.
Yes we specified UK storage just in case everything went pair shaped we could have delayed shipping the container so that if we had to return back to the UK the container would have been waiting for us.
However, they (the shipping company) have now said that there is nothing they can do about the container arriving so they are putting into a months storage NZ side free of charge and are getting back to us with the available options etc.
It just goes to show, you can plan and plan but things will still get messed up.
