Have been giving some thought to where abouts in Christchurch we might want to live , if anyone ever wants to buy our house that is!
I have been looking at Hoon Hay which seems to tick all the boxes (good views of the hills , not too far to town , good schools) and wonder if anyone has any knowledge of the area .The school I have been looking at are Hoon Hay Primary , Manning Intermediate and Hillmorton High School .The decile ratings are fairly good as are the ERO reports but of course that only tells part of the story .Also how long would it take from Hoon Hay to the airport ? (where my husbands job will be based .)

Depends on what you see as a reasonable journey to work. Many in Chch think that 10 mins is about the max anyone could possibly put up with long-term (honestly). Certainly Hoon Hay to the Airport would be under 30 mins - probably less, especially if he retains his pommy-ness enough to look for the short cuts :laugh

Thanks for the info George, we visited Sumner when we came over last December, very nice place it looked too! How long have you been there?
My husbands job offer is with Pratt and Witney at the Christchurch Engine Centre .Do you work at the airport too?
