Flights leaving NZ

Someone was asking about getting the best value flights from NZ whether it be for holidays or for good but the thread that had quite a lot of info on has been locked, so I thought it might be worth starting a new one.

Plus here is the link to the old thread:

Not sure how useful it is but we're flying Oz-UK-Oz in July with Malaysian Air and it's costing us AU$7,300 for 2 adults and 2 kids, whereas the same journey with Korean Air last July cost us about NZ$12.5K. Typically, not long after booking our non-refundable non-transferable tickets this year there was a short long haul price war and we could have done it for closer to $4K :wah

I think in the future flying from NZ I'll always check the cost of flights from Oz using Oz websites plus the cheapest hop across the ditch.

Something I noted in 2007 (so might not be true any more) when arranging family visits to us, was that although Air NZ showed the same prices for domestic flights on both the NZ and UK sites, the UK site frequently showed the cheapest flights as 'sold' whereas when I then checked the same flight through NZ site there were many available. I saved rellies a fortune by booking all their domestic flights that way.
