Hi,
We just sent in our final packet with everything but the kitchen sink. It was received in London on April 1, 2005 and we have not heard a word back since. I was wondering if an interview with NZIS always occurs before PR is granted. No job offer yet but 120 points claimed.
Also can they decline you for PR without sending you an email letting you know there is a problem? What is the average time frame to getting an interview- I have heard about 30 days? Is that still accurate with those of you who have sent in your packet lately? Anyone else experiencing delays? I am getting nervous..
Thanks,
Wendy

Wendy,
Check out my timeline in my sig below...
Key thing is just be patient (dam hard I know - sorry) I think most get a telephone chat with your case officer, there are load of tips on this forum, If you cannot find them in a search, just ask, They are a realy helpfull bunch here and helped me through mine, better then any agency I can tell you!
Good luck..

Hi Wendy,
I sent my ITA in on 17th March and had no contact whatsoever until a phone call on 12th April arranging my phone interview on 13th. About 3.5 weeks from sending ITA in. Frustrating wait, I know, especially when it seems everyone else around you is being processed. As Ian & Madge have just said, there's no secret to coping, other than patience I'm afraid. Like you, I was harbouring a secret hope that maybe I'll just get an email or letter out of the blue, granting PR! Don't think there's any chance of that...I'm sure a phone interview for all applicants is mandatory. It's nothing to worry about though, just a "friendly chat" to make sure you have realistic expectations and have carried out some research.
Good Luck :nice1

Hi Wendy,
You'll be contacted - hang in there!
My packet was received on 15 March. Received email to schedule the interview on 9 Apr. Had the interview on 13 April. Phone call telling me I had PR on 15 April.
I'd give it one full month before contacting anyone in London.

hi all,
We didn't have any interview but I am not sure if that is because I had a job offer etc and 185 points - be interested to find out.

If you have a job offer, then there is no requirement for an interview.
If you don't have an offer, then you always do an interview

Hi Wendy,
We also sent in our ITA that week, and so far the only contact has been a standard letter that we received this weekend - just over the two weeks. This letter tells us that we are now being considered under the SM catagory, currently awaiting allocation to a visa officer for assessment. A case officer will be allocated within the next month, and they hope to make a final decisision in the next two to four months.
Now, I know that a number of people who sent in the two weeks before have already been granted PR, but we take this letter to mean that we are 'on the back burner' and will be done in their own sweet time :( .
Hope this helps,
Emily

Emily - everyone (with no job offer, at least) gets that letter, as you may know, with the same time frames. It almost certainly does not mean you're on the back burner. It's more likely just bureaucratic base-covering, outlining the worst-case timeframe. The only reason those time estimates are at all likely to be true in the case of your application is if there is some v.big backlog right now... but as you can see a lot of people who applied pretty recently have had decisions far sooner than 2-4 months. So you might well be pleaseantly surprised. :nice1
Cheers,
Matt.

Thanks Matt - I'm sure it is being dealt with, it just doesn't feel like it at times. Nice to know that everyone gets that letter though.

I know it's been said many times, but hang in there Marie. You know it's got there safe, (they've taken the money quick enough) and it WILL be in someone's pile, awaiting attention.
But any amount of words won't help your 'limbo', I know :(
From my dim and distant brain, are you still awaiting qualification registration, or some other delay?

We received the same letter as Emily this week, but I think we must be one of the very few who are in no hurry to go - just yet...
I am a little concerned that we are in the UK from 27April - 5th May which makes it one month after sending our ITA, and from what I have read it seems to be approx. 1 month later when you get THE phone call.
I will only be able to check e-mail from an internet cafe and will not be in phone contact as far as immigration are concerned, I hope we don't miss out on it. Should we let them know we will be away those dates???? :? :?
We need to send in some other details and let them know our change of address so I guess it wouldn't hurt to mention that too, eh?
