Hmmmm... a lot of not so good news and worsening immigration conditions. I certainly hope for many, including the Ponies, situations change for the better.

Here, we submit our ITA package, maybe next week, 125 points, no bonus points and no job offer (the last category on the EOI selection pool) with a great SALES background in a variety of industries including real estate, insurance and other...Hope to get a NZIMS reply in maybe 45 days.

Also hope to land in NZ before Oct 12, the final school term. Also preparred to job hunt for the first 6 months in NZ.

Anyone else similar condition or recently ITA approved?

Any other feedback?

Cheers

We are going to submit our ITA pack, maybe in 2 weeks time after the medical checkup this Saturday. EOI selected with 120 points with no job offer.

Looking at the current situation, chances are slim (near zero I would think) to get any employment in NZ. We don't even expect any job offer outside NZ.

We're in dilemma at the very moment. We've been asking ourselves, should we go all out to send the ITA pack (payment US$1000 :wah)? The thing is that we have also already made appointment for the medical checkup!! That means somehow of rather we still want to really go all out to make things happen!

Let's hope that situations will turn better by 2010.

I'll be submitting my ITA in the next couple of weeks, but unlikely to be making the move until spring (northern hemisphere!) next year. TBH, I actually doubt the economic situation will be better by then and it has every chance of being considerably worse. However, the thing to remember is that even in the worst recessions, most people still have jobs and are getting by relatively normally. If the economy looks truly dire then I'll probably delay emigrating until the NZ summer and spend the first 6 months job-hunting while trotting around in a camper van -- which actually gets more appealing every day.

The question really comes down to how deep your pockets are and how much you're willing to burn "giving it a go".

Hubbie has been exchanging emails with someone from the Grow Wellington initiative (we met her last year, and she was very interested in his skills and experience); she has said that whilst they are having recession issues at the moment, they are confident that the situation will be starting to turn round Oct/Nov this year.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

Bingo - you've hit the nail on the head! I think this is a great piece of advice for any prospective immigrant without a job offer.

If you don't have health issues it should be "fast" ... Last I looked London Branch takes up to 4 months to get to your ITA... and with us it was right at that 4 month mark... You could also do what we have done and come on a WHV (takes about a week to get approved) that way you can be here and job hunt while the ITA is going through...however know we are wondering if we should have waited in the US until PR was approved... It's really hard to give advise because you never know what is going to happen!

Good luck!!!!!!!!!
