Hey everyone!
We have made it to NZ!!
I have to say AirNZ is a great airline HOWEVER, it it was VERY cramped. Not fun for over 12 hours. Service was great indeed! LAX was not a nightmare, actually it was a piece of cake. We found an employee whom was very willing to help us load 8 large suitcases to check in. We checked in with no issues, got through security with no hassle at all. We waited almost 4 hours to board the plane, we were very early. Employees of AirNZ were very efficient boarding over 300 people.
Customs in NZ, piece of cake. We thought it would be a pain, but nope. No issues. We found another nice guy to help us with our luggage and helped us load on a shuttle to the hotel.
Some first impressions...
Everything smells, tastes and sounds different here. Not a bad thing, just different. Orange juice tastes very different, the bread, soda, pizza. The accent, of course is different. And this give way thingy on the roads, wow, how strange. Just will take some time to adjust. The damp weather is VERY similar to New England (lived there over 20 years) so it feels familiar. It rained like crazy yesterday but had bouts of sunshine today in Auckland.
The people we encountered so far have been very nice and helpful. A nice lady my hubby sat next to on the plane is a kiwi and she gave us a lot of tips and suggestions for exploring and also gave us her phone number! :nice1
So tomorrow, we will put our luggage in storage, go the bank to get our bank cards and explore more of Auckland. Just trying to get our bearings. Not as jet lagged as I thought.
I cannot believe we are actually here. YAY!! :clap
