I know of a job going in....

Ok, jobs are becoming as rare as hen's teeth in some industries so I thought that as there are many of us here working we might keep an eye on the internal job boards and give a nod to those seeking jobs.

Please post as much information on the job as you feel comfortable. You may prefer anyone who is interested to PM you first, some companies might not want their positions broadcast.

I'll kick off.

Location: Christchurch

Position: Person with solid C# experience who can implement business logic into existing web services.

Contact me via PM, please.

:nice1 Excellent idea and will be very helpful for those of us planning to emigrate/move as well as those already there who are looking for work. Will keep an eye on this thread.

Thanks for starting this! :cheers

I posted this in the IT job thread a bit ago, but OH's company is still hiring multiple positions.
Software testing, technical support, as well as graduate, intermediate and senior developer positions (.Net, C# among other things).

They are advertising on seek directly now instead of using an agent as far as I can tell so seekers in the Christchurch area have probably seen the jobs.

Good math skills a must. I can't do anything with a CV but if you PM me I can tell you the company and what basically to expect for interview etc. (I'm under the impression that posting the web address is against the TOS, so just PM me)

As of 9 months ago were willing to deal with people regardless of immigration status as long as they were available for in person interview, probably still are as well. Unfortunately I get the impression they are very picky, so not sure how much help this really is.

Another thought - perhaps any jobs in small local newspapers that we get in NZ that we think might be of interest could be posted here. I know they advertise quite a few teaching jobs in our local Darfield paper, for instance.

What I don't really think will be helpful on here is a list of recruitment agencies and websites as I believe there's already many listed on here. Or, perhaps considering the economic climate, a new "sticky" thread of recruitment outlets could be made?

Just want to pop this up again.
I hear what the company is looking to hire lots of is software testers (OH mentioned at a work outing that I was bored without a job and was asked if I knew how to test software, so they must need people! :laugh). I'm not sure if there is a technical test like there is for the programming positions (passing that is the main basis for being offered a developer position afaik), but I can find out if anyone is interested.

Found out a bit more...

We're advertising for a Technician. Needs to have plenty of (dealership)experience and good computer skills. And also, be able to prove all your work history, so that if you're not WOF trained, you can be.

And a Workshop Manager's Assistant. Someone who can do warranty claims, help with the running of the workshop, be a Service Adviser when needs be, good IT skills and generally backing the manager.

Again, PM me if you are interested or know of anyone.

Thanks.

Content Writing for UK Financial Website
Listing #: 236136026
Advertisement
Company: SGB Services Limited
Location: North Shore City, Auckland
Type: Part time, Contract/T*emp
Listed: Fri, 14 Aug
Pay and benefits: $25 to $30 an hour
Very important - the applicant must be able to come into our Browns Bay offices for face to face communication for at least half the hours worked. Therefore preference will be given to you if you stay on the North Shore.

Hours of work are flexible. EG 10am to 12.30pm - collect the kids and then do a few hours from home.

Its critical that you are Internet savvy. IE use the Internet for banking, shopping, news, research etc.

Its for a UK website (http://www.askfinancially.com) so a lot of preference will be given to a person recently relocated from the UK who understands the car insurance and mortgage markets there.

Employment would initially start out as being a 3 to 6 month fixed term contract. If the website takes off it will more than likely develop into something else.

Direct quote, they're looking for candidates with:
* a willingness to learn
* Good attitude to work
* travel throughout the Auckland region
* comfortable with outdoors work
* Some aptitude for maths

The ideal candidate is probably in their early 20's, and either part way through a Uni course, or looking at taking a gap year before starting Uni or another career. No prior experience in survey work is required; note that this surveying isn't the marketing type of surveying but rather the site mapping prior to construction type of surveying. We're looking for someone to join our team in West Melton (about 20 minutes from Christchurch), working in IT Tech support/sales/marketing:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.asp?id=274969654

Team of 3 in this office and another 2 in New Plymouth so we are quite small but a fun company in a great location with good people (couple of kiwis as well as me). We are looking for someone to muck in with the same work that 2 of us are already doing, it'll be a mix of support, sales (very low pressure, no cold calling) and web marketing (blogging, twitter, etc).

Would be ideal for someone in their 20's who is pretty tech savvy, enthusiastic and is happy to get involved in anything. If you have some experience in SaaS, tech support or marketing that would help but it's not essential as long as you have some evidence of IT skills. I joined about 9 months ago fresh from the UK so no problem employing migrants although PR rather than WTR would be a bonus.

A quick proviso just to avoid disappointment, you must have excellent written and spoken english as we spend most of our day chatting to/emailing customers in the US so strong accents (unless American!) will be a problem. If you do apply then make sure your CV and covering letter look decent, we have had some absolute shockers through today.

Work at the cutting edge of high temperature superconductivity technology, an exciting opportunity for physicists to develop a unique rang e of measurement apparatus related to their work in this area amongst others. The work is not just about technology but about applying the technology to the market place. It is not an individual pursuit. You will not be able to do this alone so you will need to have the skills to bring projects together working through a number of other parties. These other parties will include scientific and engineering colleagues, client organisations, investors and internal and external workshops.

To do this job effectively you will need:

• A PhD in Physics
• Skills developing measurement equipment
• A hands on knowledge of a CAD package such as solid works
• Very good communication skills
• An opportunist bent to see how applications might be used commercially
• Project management skills
• Probably at least 3 years experience since completing your PhD

If interested in Wellington then drop me a PM.
