Well, thats my works leaving do 'done' last week (tho I am workin till the 24th), our leaving party past last Friday, and what a party we had!!!! I'd say it was as good as our wedding, without the stress and diy catering worries!

Our weekends are getting more frantic, the ratio of frantic-ness increasing in direct correlation to the reducing amount of weekends! Things are starting to get a wee bitty surreal now!

We usually get really excited about any travelling and explorifying abroad and do lots of research into what we will be doing, when and where, and we always cram as much in as we can... but we've barely opening the Lonely Planet guides for Singapore and Sydney, tho we've spoken to a lot of folk about what not to miss etc. I think we are just too pooped to start planning until we are on the plane.... no, I think we will just sleep (its an overnight flight!).

We handed over the keys to our flat for June 30, having lived in it on an airbed, borrowed pans and crockery and doing laundry every time we had coffee at friends!!! (VERY good friends)!!

Our last 6 weeks are at our friends house: no family feuding, no feeling like you are in a hotel. She's so laid back we can just bimble about doing our own thing but she gave me into trouble for cutting the grass the other morning -but its nothing less than I would have been doing at our own flat anyway... so she was really quite chuffed actually. Not only has she put me on her car insurance, but I have had free rein with her motorbike to get to/from work since I sold ours, and especially since I sold the car too... She is one in a million.... She was quite happy we took the motorbike to the Hebrides for a final fling round the West Coast for 9 days.

However, for some reason, everywhere I went I kept hearing 'Highland Cathedral' and that just sets me off again.....

Final visit to Ewan's folks this weekend (but I think they'll come and see us off on the 28th). Better scoot, I'm blubbering again!

Wow...we're very close in our timings. Gets a bit scary there at the end with how much you need to fit into the last days eh?

What part of NZ are you heading to?

Good luck with your last 3 weeks......have fun making those days count!

We're heading to Christchurch initially! Hope to retire to Nelson - well, doesnt everyone?

Thinking of pestering Peebles in Rangiora maybe! Depends where we secure work......

We're both (motor)bikers and Ewans into mountain biking. We're both into hillwalking (tramping), and we've just completed a 2-day seakayak course, and we've had our eyes on Mitsubishi Delica's as a means of transport apart from cycling.

We might be tempted to be RIGHT on the coast for the kayaking, but I know what living on the east coast of scotland is like for haar in the summer - so maybe not!

Either way we will be renting initially til we get work.... it'll give us time to suss out what's going to be best for us.

Where are you going to settle? PM me for a meet up. I'll be meeting Peebles hopefully within the first week of our arrival. Peebles, do you work daytime?
