Hi,
I have been offered WTR and have 3 months from the date of the letter to send passports to get visa. I also have to provide evidence that I can pay for return flights and support myself and my family for 3 months financially.
My finances are that I need to sell the house (which we have an offer on) and I will then release the equity. I emailed my CW asking exactly how I prove the financial bit if I haven't sold my house within the three months.
I asked her if a letter confirming the offer and the outstanding mortgage would be ok and she replied that it would not but didn't give any advice as ton an alternative.

Has anyone been in a similar position? is there an answer?
I am just worried that the 3 months will run out before my house is sold and the funds are released. My wife suggested getting a bank loan but I don't really want to go through the hassle.

Cheers
Nick

Hi Marie,

No, it's not just Sparkies. It is any trade that requires NZ registration ie: Plumbers, Gas fitters, Sparkies etc.

It's an attempt to keep the cowboys out the trades. :bobby

I agree with keeping them out but when you have the quals/work experience that I have, the system seems to be too harsh and could be forcing good quality people out due to their stupid pig headed rules!!
Cheers

I dont think that you have to rush out there immediately the pr stamp is put in. what sort of amount are they suggest, I have heard of people who get the working holiday visa who borrow the amount needed for that and put it in their account, get a statement from the bank showing this amount and get their visa stamped then pay the money back :eek Tut tut what a thing to do ;)

Yep,

I know exactly what you mean Nick. You have my sympathy.

Thats the reason I decided to go in under my original quals' ( Fitter/Turner ) and see how I get on. If it turns out that I need to do the sparkie bit at some time in the future, by the time that decision is made I should have a pretty good idea of what I need to do to register and also should have a better understanding of the Kiwi electrical work code and practices...... I hope.

Hi Nick

We've got ITA without job offer for PR, but only found out by reading the actual form that they require 24 months proof of subsistence for family. Nowhere in any docs or web pages does this appear....We are still trying to sell our house no offers and needless to say we don't have that kind of money (pathetic amount of equity in the house) so are a bit flummoxed.

Phoned London Embassy, and they said that if we could provide valuation of house, etc, etc, this advice doesn't help us, but may be you should try again and get a second opinion at the embassy.

Regards

Never say never... :yes

Lidax - I remember seeing that on the ITA, but we were never asked about it in the Interview or subsequently! I haven't seen anyone who has mentioned it TBH for the straight PR. I would not let it delay you getting the ITA back to them.
