Hi All-
Currently I have 4 yrs of software QA manual testing experience. I am looking forward to migrating to NZ. I have been living in US for about 9yrs now. I don’t know the job market in NZ. I am kind of reluctant to apply for NZ. Could anyone please advise me how hard is it to get a QA job in NZ assuming that I have about 6 months of automation testing experience and 4 yrs of manual testing experience regardless of location?
Your advice will be appreciated.
Thank you advance!

Have you looked at both www.trademe.co.nz and www.seek.co.nz for an idea on job availability?
I don't know your specific areas of expertise, so can't give further recommendations on places to look in regards to the job market.
I know the company my OH works for is hiring software testers and finding it difficult to find people. (This could be for several reasons)
If you find companies, or even agencies, advertising on the web sites I listed above you might contact them and ask how difficult their hiring process has been.

I work in software QA but more in the management side of things and have just had a look at roles being advertised on Seek right now and am only seeing about 30% of what was being advertised this time last year.
While I was still looking for a job here, I found the agencies tended to be overly pedantic when it came to trying to match your experience with specific software applications i.e. SAP, Oracle etc and then industry related experience to available roles. That said, from what I have seen there is lot less of that when it comes to specialist skills such as automation.
Like BkyMonster said, check out Seek and Trade Me.

Hi All-
Are IT jobs in NZ more like a contract job or the companies do direct hiring? I looked at some of the position in Seek website but I got the impression that some jobs were posted by a third party and not directly by a company.
Please advice!
Thanks!

A lot of jobs may be posted by recruiters who try to get clients to present to the employer in exchange for a fee (paid by the employer). It can be helpful to contact them about jobs (and then again, not) but direct contact with companies is better if you can.
Recruiters do sometimes advertise for jobs that don't exist, and possibly multiple recruiters will advertise for the same job so when using them you have to be wary.
I found using this tool to match skills http://www.careers.govt.nz/default.aspx?id0=202
and then selecting relevant job titles got me a list of company web sites to look for jobs on.
Hope that helps.

You could have a look here: http://therealthing.co.nz/
Recruitment company but seems to be IT focussed.
