Salutations fellow educators! :)
I have been wondering how teaching in NZ compares with your home country. Where I live, the education system has progressed to include a lot of IT, co-operative learning but also at the expense of pedagogy in terms of mounting admin work, as well as a corporate-style grading system for teachers which creates high levels of stress and competition. :(
Also, students are becoming increasingly difficult to manage in class. After 8.5 years in service, I quit more than a year ago to pursue other interests, but then came along the economic recession and I decided to take up part-time studies instead. Many friends have suggested teaching in another country. I wonder how different it is for teachers who have actually made the move? How has your experience been like?
I am trained in Primary English, Math and Social Studies as well as Secondary English Language and Literature. I would really like to pursue writing, which was my first love, but considering other options in between jobs. I would love to hear about your experience from various parts of NZ, thank you!
