Has anyone shipped there guitars to New Zealand? What method did you use?
I really don't want to put them in the container but I also don't really want to take them as hand luggage.
Cheers,
Chris.

I imagine the container would be best as the shipping companies pack them very well, also you would be insured if it received any damage. My daughters guitar will be going on the container.

I am shipping 4 accoustic - 2 six string and 2 twelve string guitars in hard cases + child's guitar and my grandfather's mandolin. I am on the look out for hard cases for these two now. The shipping company GB liners thought it was no problem at all and have shipped hundreds. They are my most precious possessions so they had better be safe! I'll let you know :uhoh

Hi all. A while back we bought a guitar while in NZ on holiday. to get it back we unscrewed the neck from the rest of the guitar and packed both bits in the suitcases between the clothes. We had to re-string the guitar and put it back together when we got back to UK but it arrived safely, :exit it has now travelled back to NZ again in the same way. Regards Trudy

We are taking our 2 guitars with us. The shipping company (Britannia) made a note that 2 guitar packing boxes would be required.
I'll let you know how they arrive.

I didnt have a container, my goods went groupage with other items. I packed hubbys guitar in bubble wrap and made up a box around it with lots of packing tape. It arrived fine, and works perfectly well.

My (electric) guitar is still in the container and will approx. arrive 2nd of May, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. :uhoh But I think it'll be okay, because they've done it a lot of times and if there was a problem, they would've let me know... I hope...

I took both my acoustics (1 cheapo, 1 coupla grand's worth) on the plane - not as hand luggage, just in the hold - and they were both absolutely fine.

Has anyone got an update on their experience of shipping their guitar(s) in the container?
Cheers,
Chris.

My electric guitar was shipped in our container. It seems to have arrived ok but I haven't tried it yet. Actually my father made it for me in 1982 and I haven't played it since. It is on the list of things to do

We are planning to ship our guitars (1 spanish, 1 country, 1 base) in hard cases in our container. This goes for our keyboard as well. We don't see any other solution since the violin has to be taken as handluggage but we feel it should be all right to put them in the container. The only thing that worries me is diffences in temperature :uhoh but hey maybe the moving company has a solution for that ? :P

My husband moved to New Zealand last week, and took his acoustic as carry-on from Kansas to Taupo. No problems....
