We've Arrived!

So we're finally here.

On Day 1 of our New Zealand experience.

The flights were sooooooooooooooooooo long, OMG I hope I don't have to do that again in a hurry. It was made worse by the fact that Auckland wasn't our final destination and after 24 hours of flying we still had to get to Chrischurch and then Invercargill. Urgh!

Anyway, so far, WE LOVE IT. Invercargill is so much better than people made it out to be. The weather is fine! What was all that moaning about. It's 9 degrees and sunny. Ok, I've no doubt this is probably a good day weather wise, but still, I was pleasantly suprised.

Kiwis are friendly (but we don't understand the humour just yet) and so far we have found groceries cheaper than we expected and Invercargill a much more 'modern' place than we were told.

Oh, and we nearly shed a tear when the immigration guy said to us at customs 'welcome home'.

We're home! Hopefully, this will be it for us for a while. My OH starts work on Monday and I have to make some friends cos I'm already feeling lonely!! Anyone in Invercargill fancy a meet up? We have a 4 year old so hopefully can make some mummy friends soon.

Chat again soon

Welcome to the Mainland! We are at the other end of the South Island but it's all the same 'neighbourhood' ;-)

Good to hear your first impressions are positive ones, I hope things continue to go as well as they have started - horrendously long trips notwithstanding.

Welcome to New Zealand! I'm sure you'll find the City of Water and Light very charming especially as the summer approaches. You also have the most interesting (and most popular?) mayor in the whole of NZ :D

I have read a few other people's posts on the forum saying that the airport immigration woman or man has said 'welcome home' on arrival, if they say that to me I will cry ;)

Glad you have had a happy landng and first day :nice1
