So how much would a typical visit to the doctor cost?

Son under 5 costs $ 20
Daughter 6 costs $ 40
Me & OH costs $ 55

Needless to say we would have to be dying to go but kids have to go regularly
Had to pay $40 to have doctor tell me my daughter had a bad cold !
Only good thing is prescriptions for kids only cost $3

Phew.. it wasn't as bad as I was expecting then. Will have to get used to paying to see the docs then! :(

There also cheap community (if that's what they are called) clinics. I go to one and it's perfectly fine it being in a nice area. I'm a non resident on a one year visa so get no subsidies and a visit is $50. As a resident it is $15 so very cheap. I think the littlies under 5 are free and a nominal amount for those older.

We must have found a good surgery, Karl tore his calf muscle 2 weeks ago, we called the local surgery and they charged $32, they said it was higher than the regular fee as he wasn't registered, it is normally $16 for an appointment. He also got free physio through acc!!!

Not really. I pay $16 as my Dr is part of a PCT. It depends on the GP.
Prescription charges would be the same throughout the country.

It definitely depends on the GP. I haven't been to the GP in NZ yet, but my partner pays $15 per visit. We also live in Auckland :cool:
