Greetings to our friends from across the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian oceans and wherever!
It's been a while since I last logged on to this forum, and that was to highlight the first philippine meet. We were only about 9 or 10 people then; there was a 2nd meet last March 27 (Easter SUnday) but I wasn't able to attend that one because my family was in the province for the holy week. Then last April 17, we held the 3rd Phil meet, and our numbers swelled from 10 to 20 (in the second) to about 35 in the 3rd meet. You Brits get organized too so we can have an East-West barbecue in Christchurch or somewhere soon! :laugh :clap
The migration process for us Pinoys (our slang for Filipinos) is quite different from the Brits' or Americans, for one thing we have to fly to Bangkok Thailand for our interviews with our case officers. No telephone interviews for us, :uhoh . But at least we get to see Thailand's beautiful gardens and temples and markets! It was a bit of a query for us as to why Thailand and not Manila, when the Philippines ranks 2 (behind great britain) in the number of migrants to nz!. Well, we found out the answer, it's really a problem with graft and corruption, although the people in the embassy would not say anything officially. SO, the price we pay for our fellow Filipinos' foolishness.
I'd like to try to upload some pictures into this forum from the meet last April 17. We held it in a Thai resto, called Sukothai, quite good food, and similar to our Pinoy palate. It's an introduction to our trip to Thailand for the interviews. Many of those you met in the forum have been interviewd or will soon be leaving for their interviews. Cathy (cagcagb), beah, have been interviewed; daisy, jinkee (jhsay), jes (jesselyn), myrna among others will soon be leaving for their interviews. A lot more of us are still waiting for our ITAs, so we're all praying for each other and keeping our fingers crossed!
So, just to introduce to all the enz friends the people of the philippines who are soon kiwis (God willing!), here are some of the pictures from the philippine meet.
