I need to setup an LLC in NZ.
I have been granted permanent residence, but won't arrive until November.
Is it possible to setup the LLC before I get there?

LLC = Limited Liability Company
They aren't shortened to LLCs in NZ - almost all companies are limited liability so you just say "company". The suffix is Ltd (short for Limited).
The process for setting up the company is relatively straightforward - the Companies Office tells you what to do:

If you need to set it up before you arrive though then you are probably best to ask an accountant or lawyer to do it for you as it will make things easier!

Thanks for the info!
In my situation, I will be working as a self-employed contractor for a company based in the US. I was told that setting up an LLC would be a smart move.
What I'd like to find out is if I should setup an LLC in the US, NZ, or both places.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
