I've tried searching but not found any answers yet...

when I get to NZ I will need an email address to use for possible job hunt. My current email address is a UK one.

Can I set one up before I go or do I have to wait until I'm there?

You should quite easily be able to use a Hot mail account or a Goggle G.mail.

If you are using outlook 2007 you could use the connector and it will seek out your account and download the emails there

From a job searching perceptive, having an gmail account is more Kiwi so they will think you are local.

Yes it's similar to any other webmail account, you can register at any time and can be anywhere to access e-mail and services.

The only way to get a truly .co.nz e-mail address is to sign up with a NZ internet service provider, but you wouldn't want to be doing that just yet. Gmail will be fine for your purposes and nz employers will be none the wiser of your whereabouts.

Not quite, as you could just buy a NZ domain name and then have that hosted anywhere. Buying hte domain is normally only a few dollars / pounds, and even the hosting can be had from £5 or so per month.

However, as gmail is free then that would seem the most sensible way.
