Hi,
does anyone know what the Masterton district of NZ is like?? Any ideas on what work opportunities are like (nurse/electrician)?? Also, any views on schools in the area??

I'm asking a lot but any info would be appreciated

My Grandma lives in Martinborough and I grew up in Upper Hutt (just over the hill).

Masterton is the next largest town from UH (larger than UH) and from memory it has a lovely park and swimming pool, McD and plenty of shops etc.

Also a vineyard area.

I dont know much about schools - but Solway Park school (for girls) was always a posh choice.

I guess there will be a hospital there - probably the only one in the Wairarapa. :exit

Oh, and my stepdad is a sparky, living in UH and he gets some work from Masterton area (so I probably shouldnt encourage you!!) :wah :mrgreen:

Hi Baboonworld, we are looking at living in the Hutt Valley. Any tips on good areas, and the ones to avoid, wainui looked great to us last year but we have been warned away from there.

Are there a lot of flies and stuff in Pinehaven because of the forests?

What's Stokes Valley like, some good looking houses there.

Would appreciate any info you can give us.

Went to Masterton & Martinborough over Easter.

Masterton is pretty dull...gotta say.

It's laid out on a grid system in the main part of town, a bit like Rotorua, and just feels a bit dead. Not a pretty place by any means.

The surrounding countryside is gorgeous though..like most of NZ. And Marlborough is a sweet little town.

Just couldn't see myself living somewhere like Masterton. Mind you....I'm totally taken with Wellington, so end up comparing everything to there :)
