Hi,
when i visited NZ in April I noticed the petrol ron levels were lower than in the UK. I can't recollect seeing 99 Ron petrol but i was in a hire car running on i think it was 91 Ron petrol so was not really looking
I am considering importing my Subaru STI but it runs on 99 Ron petrol.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

You can get both 95 and 98 fuel here, although I've only ever seen 98 at BP stations.
Pricewatch should have more info, including the price in the area you're planning on going to.

Gull do a high octone biofuel as well - although there aren't that many Gull stations around and the "Force 10" high octone is only available in 3 of them in Auckland. Their website (www.gull.co.nz (http://www.gull.co.nz)) doesn't say the exact Octane level though.
Shell V-Power here is only 95 rather than 98 as in the UK.
I've seen a few STIs here so assume they fill up on something (probably BP).

I have it on good authority (OH is a Shell tanker driver) that Shell V-power is actually 96 (they also sell 91).

98 is the best you can get here, and only BP offers it. It is pricey but your Subaru STi wouldn't have any other choice...

Thank for the replies. Currently paying £1.12/13 a litre for super unleaded so I am used to the high prices!!!!
I can get a remap on the car to get it to run on on 98 or even 95 ron as it's currently mapped on on Shell's V Power for the Uk.
Just another thing to add to the list of to do's

Ah yes, UK fuel extortion ;)
I fill up with Shell V-Power and it's around $1.75 just now in central Auckland - or around 73p a litre given the current exchange rates :D

Aside, the STI is the most stolen car in New Zealand.
