Mediation / Tribunal process??

OK, the job that was going to be my future career turned sour and I was forced to leave due to...well, that's a long list, let's not go there.

I'm now involved in mediation with my previous employers and as they have made me a totally unacceptable offer it seems we are destined to go to a tribunal.

Would anyone have any words of wisdom on this kind of situation, or been through it themselves? I'm not sure of how things like this work, having never been through anything like this in my life.

Any advice would be great :yes

I have no idea about employment tribunal but I have been to a fair few tenancy tribunals and I would imagine they run in a fairly similar manner.

Get your evidence together, take three copies, one for you, one for the other party and one for the adjudicator.

Make a cover sheet with everything you are claiming, dates of events etc etc.

Present your case in a calm, considered way and don't rise to any bait they throw in your direction. Try and anticipate what they may produce or bring up and have something to counter their claims.

I think you can also take witnesses but they must not come into the hearing room until asked.

Oh and don't sit down when you go into the room, you have to stand and be sworn in first ;) I nearly did first time I went and felt a right numpty!

Most of all, good luck!

Thanks for that, its a real shame that things have been allowed to get this far really.

I was beginning to think it was perhaps my just being unlucky, finding myself in the situation I'm in. What's really interesting is when I mention I'm going through a bit of a rough patch so many other people have then told me they have been through something very similar when they came over.

Is this something that is happening to others, but no one like to talk about it?? There has been clear evidence of discrimination against me in the work place. I've not heard this mentioned before anywhere, but have definitely expereinced it since arriving.

And to be fair, there are other circumstances where I know how welcome I am so perhaps I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, who knows.
