BNZ credit card - need help

hi
one of the requirement to apply for a credit card in NZ is to be NZ citizen or PR. HOWEVER, they are exceptions can be made. eg have term deposit with the bank, usually half the term deposit fund is what you get for the credit limit.

i know both National bank and ASB can offer the above condition for non-resident.

does BNZ offer the same? i need some advice!!

i'm currently own an ASB visa credit card, but due to AIR NZ will no longer be ASB'S reward partner, im very keen to switch to BNZ's globalplus credit card (same level as my asb card). (by the way westpac will no longer either).

i've been with BNZ eftops card since 2003, used to be my primary account upon till last year (2008) where ASB approved my credit card application and i've been using it us my primary account. (still been using bnz eftops where credit card is not accepted)

i've no debit / hire purchase / loan or any kind of browning in anywhere in the world.

by the way, what's the definition of income? i would say the fund comes in to you regularly no matter how you got them?(as long as it's good legal sources), but BNZ told me is where ''employer'' pays you regularly not from your parents. (i study at uni full time, and parents sent my fund 'regularly' and is more than enough for the card requirement that im after)

i've had a meeting with one of the banking adviser, he wasn't particular helpful or interested.

anyone can help? any advices? cheer in advance.

the policy is that BNZ take a view on a case by case basis. if you are a student, you could also apply for a campus account which is free and the underwriting for cards is slightly different. pm me if you have any further queries.

hi
thanks for the quick reply, sorry i can't PM as im new to enz.
i though they would do the application case by case, as i said ''that'' banking adviser was not helpful or interested at all, should i give it another shot?

for the campus account, the credit card limit is only $500. would prefer globalplus as earn air nz points.

thanks

When is this changing with ASB as you can still convert their True Rewards into Air New Zealand Airpoints at the moment?

;) Oh how times change.

[hovis music] When I were a lad, and at college then the only thing of interest was how many pints of guiness were needed to obtain a 'black stuff' t-shirt, thereby demonstrating financial acumen in using the money to buy, food, alcohol and clothe myself. Now it's all airline discount points and iphones :D

hi

u didnt get a letter from asb true reward?
from the end of october, air nz will no longer be a true rewards partner. the last day you can convert true reward dollars to air nz airpoints dollars is 29 october 2009.
westpac finishes about a week or two later.
that leaves globalplus from bnz the only and best choice!! you even earn status points now if you know what that is.:D

It should come on-stream shortly, then. You just click on any username, and the drop-down box will have the option there.

This won't be much help with the BNZ thing cause we're with Westpac (and also considering changing) but we got a credit card with a few thou limit, with no NZ income at all, and no credit history, a week or two after we got here, so it can be done. We did provide proof of UK income which must have helped.

when i first apply with asb (19 year old, full time student and no employment), i had no credit history or nz income either, but i had a face to face meeting with a banking adviser who asked a few easy questions. if you are not a nz citizen / resident, all they after is a term deposit with them. (half of the term deposit is the credit limit they will give to you).

i have proof of international transfer / oversea cheque from my father regular. (all have been gone through my bnz account) but obviously ''bnz'' banking adviser said it has to be from an employee. i wonder how retired people can apply for such financial stuff? says if they receive fund from their children or government welfare...ect do they not count as income?
