Ha! well the other week I was laughing on the phone to my Mum about the forum posts about gravy granules & she stopped suddenly - 'What - you don't have gravy granules?' 'No' I replied - 'Oh my goodness how awful!' responded the queen of convenience food!

Yesterday I got home from work to a parcel on my doorstep.... a box full of different flavoured Bisto - good old Mum!

I don't believe it.

When we had the MAF inspection of our stuff they made off with just two items:

- The wooden base of a small Christmas tree (which was covered in (very dangerous looking) bark).

- A single oxo cube.

Yes, no kidding! I know it was closer to the Foot and Mouth time, but really! We had a box full of identical cubes in the larder bought at New World. I hope that they managed to incinerate this dangerous item before it managed to bite and infect any member of the NZ herd.

Bisto is ok because it doesn't actually have any meat products in it :eek

but oxo cubes made in the UK have northern hemisphere beef products and oxo cubes here are made with more local beef.

I can imagine them being very careful really.

Just last week I think there's been a dutch lady diagnozed with Creutzfeld Jacobs... The first case in Holland, incubation time for that is set at around 15 years I think. With all the inspection and all that being done since we had BSE in Europe, even after many years you seem to be able to have that in your blood..and then you get it, she's 35 years old... :no
