Hi All
I've been offered a 25% in a new business in Auckland, ( it will be the Auckland branch of an established business ) a car and $48,000 pa.
When we do sell the house we should have about $260,000 to take with us. Was thinking $60,000 to get us there, renting for 3 months, buying a car and beds, furniture ect, this will leave us $200,000 to put down on a house. We were thinking of a mortgage of about $100,000 to $150,000 so we could buy a 3 or 4 bedroom house, $300,000 to $350,000 not sure where yet.
Do you think we will: Make it :D / Struggle :? / Crash and burn :wah ?
And would you do?
All thought welcome
Cheers All :nice1
PS: We have three boys aged 8, 16, & 20

BJ - go for it. If it means you live on bread and dripping for a few months and actually have to sit and talk to each other in the evening because you can't afford the electricity to run the telly - then so be it - what a lovely thing to have to do. Think of the adventure. We all have the ability to survive on the bare necessities (remember Balloo in Jungle Book) - we've just all got far to use to our luxeries .... and I most certainly include myself in that statement.
Remember ...... don't follow the path, take a different direction and leave a trail.

If you've done your research correctly and there aren't to many pitfalls, jump in. :yes Life is all about gambles. Go for it. But thats just my opinon If you don't the thought will be we should have.
You can always sell your share, maybe with a profit, :nice1 and return and always be proud of the fact that you tried it. Not many of us will be able to say that. :no

Hi Bj
We only get one life and you must do what you feel is right for you. Life is about gambles - some pay off, some don't. But better to have tried and failed than to be in an old folks home many years down the line and thinking "what if/if only". My dad had the opportunity to go to Australia about 30 years ago and really regrets not trying it.

Diny is right.
We get used to luxury.
THe more money I have - the more I send.
When we first arrived here I found the lack of choice extremely frustrating.
I mean........3 choices of shampoo and conditioner just didnt hit the spot for me!!!
Well....8 years on - and they now have around...um.....ten?
I only ever use the same one anyway!
What I'm trying to say - in a garbled kind of way - is you are about to make a huge life change anyway.
SO ......
If money is a bit tight - find ways of getting round it. It WONT last forever.
Beans on toast are a very nutricious option.......and you can always splash out and get proper Heinz ones from the Woolworths range. ;)
It sounds like a good option to me!! Be brave.
Dive in!!!
You're only here once.....

Watties be buggered ..... they just don't cut the mustard - to vinegary !! And the actual beans are hard too.
OK - so I'll get use to them - (not).
May be putting my head on the chopping block here but - IMHO it's the fresh fruit and veg I'm looking forward to. The lean, fresh meat and the abundant fish and seafood - all at reasonable prices.
However ..... when it comes to 'processed' food - anything that has to be canned, bottled, frozen, boxed, shrink wrapped etc etc - I just don't think NZ has the same quality as the UK.
BUT ........ why bother buying the processed cr*p when you have all that wonderful fresh stuff available .... swings and roundabouts I guess. And it's not beyond any of us to adapt is it?
Diny.

Will try a 'blob' of butter - what a lovely word !!!
Yeah - the ketchup is like 12 volt battery acid.
I think I will have to bite the financial bullet and get these kind of foods from Wollies !!

This has caused many a discussion (argument) in this house. We will always be divided over Watties and Heinz. Problems will occur when there are kids, we will be fighting for supremacy, what will they pick??
I will surupticiously replace all the watties in the house with heinz, until the kids are hooked!

The other day i bought some Haricot beans. i did not know what to do with them so i half followed some recipe for Greek bean Soup. I made a sauce rather than soup as it was for our tea (dinner to you posh lot)and the result was far superior than Heinz (i've never treid Watties) and without the preservities, salts, sugars, colouring etc. the after affects wern't as bad either. Susan could sleep through the night without being gassed to death too! :laugh

Sorry i got carried away and my last post did not really help you BJ.
I am looking for any route in so, YEAH i'd go for it, snatch there hands off and all that.
Looks like you have some good assets/savings, so even if it does not work out for the best you could always come back, albeit a little down on your savings. I keep coming back to the same conclusion, if we don't go for it now, we never will and we will never know what lay ahead for us, that will be a life long regret!
You will have to consider your situation very carefully. good luck :nice1
