hello,

we are moving to NZ (Auckland) in january for 2 years of studying. Our plan is to stay in some sort of appartment and then try to find a nice little flat for us. Can anyone tell us what kind of accomodation would be the best for the first month for a student couple. Should not be something special, just a place to settle and to ake the first steps.

Some webpages or any other kind of information or opinion would be helpfull.

thanks for your help!!!

We spent a week in a serviced apartment in central Auckland. It had everything we could have needed. Could be a bit expensive - but could give you some time until you find something more suitable.

We stayed in serviced apartments - Grafton Waldorf. Waldorf have several apartments in CBD. They are a bit expensive but do offer a student rate so it is worth contacting them direct to see what they can do. Could always go for a backpackers for the first couple of weeks?

thank you for your response ... right now we are looking for appartments for arround 400NZD per week to get settled and to sort some things out. The idea with a youth hostel is not bad but the problem is that its not possible to store anything there (shipping some personal belongings) - but this is a nother problem since we did not figure out any cheap shipping possibility which can send some personal belongings and not a whole container...

Quest apartments have quite a few apartments dotted around Auckland CBD.

Also for storage, there are a lot of self-storage places around Auckland that you could try. Try googling on google.co.nz. Our goods were stored by our shippers for six weeks until we found a place and it was fairly inexpensive.
