Household cleaning materials - can you put in container to be shipped to NZ?

I know in the grand scheme of things this seems a daft question but I was wondering, as I have a cupboard full of different cleaning materials for my household chores, many in liquid or powder form - lots still unopened - can you put these all in a box in the container or do I have to give them all away to my neighbours when we go?

I am not sure if you can take this kind of thing with you or not? When you reckon up the amount of stuff you have got it will cost us quite a bit to replace it all once we arrive in New Zealand if you cannot take it with you.:uhoh

We took a lot of our cleaning stuff opened and unopened no problem (taped up the open ones to make sure they didn't leak). We did not bring flammable cleaning products though such as bleach, aerosols, etc.

I brought over a couple of bottles of cleaner from Oz because they were eco and those cost a fortune here. Just make sure they're really well sealed and no bleach etc.

... may i ask how you ship all your things to NZ ... im really having a hard time figuring out what way would be the best since a whole cargo container is way to much ...

You could investigate groupage - when the company makes up a container with your packages and other people's.

You can pay for a 20 foot container or a 40 foot container. You can also share containers if they are going from the UK.

Both my son and daughter had only about 8 boxes of items and we took them to the shipping company in our car ourselves, which was based in Liverpool and then they were sent by sea. I think from memory it cost them about £300 with insurance. They did give a lot of their furniture away or sold it before they left.

We decided we had two choices - buy everything new when we got to New Zealand or take some pieces of furniture that meant a lot to us. We have a nice big table bought in the 1960's and some furniture from that era - (this is back in fashion now as what goes around comes around)!. With all our ornaments, bedding, cutlery, dishes etc., we have had a quote of £3600 with one removal firm. But I think to replace all the items of the same quality wood would cost us more in New Zealand so we are therefore taking them.
