I was going through some of my old bookmarks and I found this:

Golden Bay (http://www.goldenbaynz.co.nz)

and so I'm looking through it and I would like to hear opinions of those who have been there and those that live there.

Thanks,

Dan

Some rather random thoughts:

Lovely area, great beaches, can be a bit wet (since they get some of the west coast weather).

Quite remote, you need to go over Takaka Hill to go pretty much anywhere.

Get the impression that people go there for a more bohemian lifestyle.

Small scale dairy farming (Jersey cows).

Used to be called Murderers' Bay!

I recall seeing a TV programme some time ago about the residents having set up a local bartering system to trade goods and services.

It's a beautiful area but somewhat remote. Some friends have moved there and while the primary schools are fine for their chldren now, they believe they will have to consider sending them to boarding school for their secondary education.

Thanks everyone...

I'm back in the states and I'm bored and I miss NZ.
