My kiwi wife never had a credit card until she met me. She still doesn't they're all in my name - should I be worried :uhoh . What I mean is that as in other respects of a capitalist attitude, they have yet to catch up. It's the reason people say its like stepping in a time warp when they get here (besides the radio play list :wah ). Its the attitude, if you live ina society that wants people to better themselves, then people will want to do that. It's the end result of democracy - why do you think the oldest democracy has the most evidsent class system.
My god I could become an economist :eek

but surely a poll is slightly different to a normal thread. its more of a statistics exercise. And maybe I am a bit oldfashioned in this regard but I don't feel the need or inclination to discuss our private money matters on an open forum that anyone can read. I respect that if others want to let the world at large know their business its up to them, my point is that they didn't HAVE to do that to fulfil the point of this Poll.
sorry statisticians!! however obviously by the number of replies - most have felt the want/need to discuss further .
And good on you if you have loads of £££/$$$ - as a Kiwi I think it is great that you are investing it in my country!!! :clap
Re; Credit cards - in NZ never had one - NEVER thought about it - NEVER had a loan (other than for a car).
in UK it is just the norm. (me included!!) :eek

No where near as much as we wanted to, BUT, we have managed to totally clear our debts in the UK which were mounting out of control.
Now we have a little in the bank for a deposit and we can start again - financially.
Thought I'd never be in that position, so we're really happy.
Almost penniless, but happy, and will soon be even happier in 6 weeks....even if a little closer to being more penniless !
