Hello.
Our EOI was selected from the pool on 13th April and we're now waiting for an ITA, so it's the beginning of a long journey for us! Has anyone from the same draw heard anything yet?
We have no job offer, so am I right to assume that the best we can expect is a two-year work visa?
Thanx.

Absolutely not. We (and many others on this forum) have got unconditional PR without a job offer. Take a look at the timings thread in 'The Lounge'

John.......thanks for that.
Thought that unconditional PR was impossible without a job offer. Great news!!
Carol......sorry for the confusion on my part.
Thought that you were still a "wannabe". Obviously not!!

Hi
Great name :nice1 :laugh We were selected 13/04/05 only thing we have had is the standard letter from Singapore! :wah I have been looking at the time scale from other forum members in the past and by my calculations we should hear something this week hopefully! :nice1 :clap We didn't have a job offer either and from what I have read lots of others without job offers have been granted PR unconditionally so long as they get there within a year :nice1 I think someone got offered WTR visa instead because their occupation required registration. Correct me if I'm wrong someone please! I think Sharpblade was drawn on the 13/04/05 as well without a job offer. I will keep all informed when I hear something.
All the best

hiya
Yeh agree with the avatar comments :clap
On the visa you will get without a job offer, , just want to add to what the others said, from what I have seen if you are in a trade that requires NZ registration (Plumbers, electricians etc.), I THINK, that they get the 2 year special visa, and once they have held a job for 3 months they get PR. Everyone else seems to get PR unconditionally (which is my experience)
[.....edit.... - sorry Michelle i just notice you already said that!!]
Best of luck
alex : :P

Hello,
Yes I am one whose EOI was drawn on Wed 13th April and I have not received any news from NZIS so far. I will keep you posted.
On the other hand I am getting excited and I want to be as proactive as possible. Today, I did some DIY so that our house will be more prepared if it was put on the market.... Still more work to do though. And I am visiting Christchurch between Tue 7th June 2005 and Monday 13th June 2005: I booked my flight through Lastminute.com (1,070euros all included, Singapore Airline, Manchester-Singapore-Christchurch). This will be an opportunity to see some people face to face (hopefully) and to decide whether or not we took the right decision (I have a wife and 4 kids aged between 1.5 years old and 6 years old).
I hope that we could all relocate to Christchurch between September05 and November05. Like a lot of the people here, the two main issues ahead are the sale of our house (are we going to put it on the market as soon as we receive the ITA?) and a future job (IT job).
Anyway, if somebody knows an affordable place to stay in Christchurch for my short trip, I am open to suggestions. ;)

Just to let you know that I got a letter from NZIS today to inform us my EOI has been forwarded to the London Branch for consideration. A case officer is assigned or will soon be assigned to our case.

Hi SharpBlade
Good to hear from you. We received a letter too, telling us that our application will be dealt with by the London office. I checked on their website which says they aim to deal with requests within 2 - 4 weeks of selection from the pool. It's been 4 weeks since the date of our draw so maybe we'll hear something this wee? Fingers crossed!
We're doing the same as you.....trying to "tart-up" the house prior to a sale. Our timeframe for any possible move is a bit longer than yours and we hope to be in Wellington next summer. We're going over this Christmas for a 4-week rece and will be looking at both islands, but Welly looks the best bet as we already have friends there.
Keep in touch.
