I wonder if someone can help.
My brother and his family (wife and 2 small children) are coming over to visit at the beginning of Nov and are returning on New Yrs Eve via Singapore. As a birthday surprise for his wife he wants to book into a good Singapore hotel - but he can't seem to find somewhere that will allow them all in one room (or a 2 room suite).
Forget Raffles, they won't allow kids, and the Shangri La is booked. Anyone out there have any recommendations? Wants something "special" - looking at £200 a night.
I will also check out online for him but wondered if anyone had any first hand experience / ideas.
Thanks
Moorf

I've stayed in the Hyatt Regency, it was fab !!!
A while back now though but it's worth having a look.

Thanks Diny - did you stay there with 2 children too? I was amazed when I found that many places only allow you in a room with one child :?
Cheers

No it isn't. There certainly anin't a '5' at the end of it ..... bad typing.
No, just a girlfriend and me, no kids with us.

Helen,
We've stayed at the Traders Hotel (also Shangri-la) and at the Swissotel. Both were fab, feel like royalty, good locations, great swimming pools for the kids. Yet both very affordable too. At the time had one child in extra bed and one in cot, would need to check if they allow 2 children.
When we make our journey over to NZ in September, we're planning to stay at the Rasa Sentosa resort (again Shangri-la). There they only allow 1 child in room, but we're booking 2 interconnecting rooms. At the time we're going 5nts for the price of 4 - again very reasonable (by UK prices).
Suggest you take a look at the trailfinders site (www.trailfinders.co.uk), and have a quick look at the hotels they feature. If gives you a quick writeup and £ prices too. We've booked all above through them.
Best of luck!!

Snap Babette,
We have the same intention, have not booked yet. Want to get the house sold and not tempt fate, before we make the final decision.
We are hoping to be there about the middle of September. Fingers crossed.

This is an excellent choice, Moorf :nice1
Sentosa is the best location for very special occasion. My hubby went there 2 times and he wants to go again.
Features such as :
* musical fountain (spectacular displays on every evening starting from 7 pm) - try to be there earlier to get the best seats.
* merlion (the view from the top is great)
* underwater world
* several museums
* monorail (looks like a train and bring people round the island)
I'm very sure that your brother and his family will have a fantastic time there. :cheers

Babette - I will let you know when we are heading for Singapore. We want to get the house sold before we book anything. The second last step, as we got our approved in principle letter today. After that all we need is (for me to get a new brain, forgot to finish this sentance) a job for Peter.
Thanks for the info about the executive suite, that is just what we need. I have three boys 15, 12 and 5. So we really do need a seperate room, but somewhere we can keep an eye on them.

Another of my hubby's favourite place in Singapore is Clarke Quay http://www.clarkequay.com.sg/
The first time he visit Singapore, we took the boat ride along the Singapore river and then had his beer, watching the boats passing by. After the happy hour, we will go for the famous satay stalls (usually crowded with locals and tourists). There are also live band and Chinese opera performing there. We spent about 5 hours there, arriving at 5 pm when the sun is not so hot.
My hubby like it so much, that whenever we visit Singapore, he must go there for the beer, satay and the atmosphere. :nice1

Ohhhh, you've got my memory going now - my dad took me to 'the satay stalls' many a time when I was little, sitting on turned over buckets in those days :P The temperature, the atmosphere - there nothing quite like it. Can't wait till our next visit, hopefully in September :nice1
