Hi Folks

I am begining the long and protracted process of having my qualifications evaluated by the NZQA, and am now very interested in others experiences in that area. What you had and how they evaluated them.

Is it just me that feels conned by the lack of information regarding which qualifications might be considered and which ones are a waste of $75.

I even spoke to the NZQA last night in the hope that I could get a feel for how they viewed my qualifications in general and if it would be worth submitting a pre-assessment request.

But - No Dice, she gave nothing away!!!
Cant help feeling in some respects it is just a money making exercise.
Sensible logic would suggest a list of previously assesed qualifications and the outcomes posted somewhere on their site.

So to compensate....
Anyone want to post their experiences, particularly having non-degree trade qualifications (Especially IT) assessed by the NZQA.

Thanks for that - soapbox rant over.

hi!

am also in the process of migrating and am wondering if i have to have my medical degree assessed; my husband and i didn't claim points for it, and still we got selected (had a total of 135 points), but it's been 6 months since selection and we still havent received our ITA pack. so now i'm wondering if i still need that nzqa. actually i'm glad you wrote and said you feel it's a waste of $75. we feel the same way.

hey people, the two of us are waiting for your replies hehehe

:cheers

I had my NVQ in IT assessed by NZQA and they couldn't have been more helpful. :P

I completed the form on line but it kept "losing" the information so I wasn't sure what I'd finally sent them, apart from the payment ;)

I received an e-mail back saying they couldn't verify it, which I was certain they could. I replied giving all the details, links to tje OCR web site and the local college, my certificate number and faxed over copies of my certificates.

I received confirmation their verification the next morning.

The girl was most polite and very helpful.

We are about to go through the same process again with Keith's air-force qualifications, but will send it in the post this time, with a full explanation to start with.

From my very limited experience, it seemed to be about providing them with enough evidence to identify what it is you've got and also showing them what you think the equivalent may be, so they can then make that comparison.

Maybe I just struck lucky !!!

I had my BTEC ONC in Telecoms pre-assessed for our EOI and the result came back in 2 days as level 4.

For the ITA I submitted a full assessment, as that can cover more than 1 qualification and I thought it would be useful to have my management qualifications assessed as well. Though you only enter details for 1 qualification on the ITA.

This took a little longer, around 12 weeks but everything came back OK and the report covered all the qualifications.
