How did you wrap your furniture to protect it from scratches during the move?

Our shippers said that they can't use blankets/pads to wrap furniture for the move to NZ so they recommended that all wood furniture be wrapped with that heavy padded paper. (It wasn't clear if they didn't use pads because they wouldn't have a way to get them back from NZ or if it was a MAF restriction?)

We're doing the move ourselves so we're really not sure what to do about the wood furniture. Any advice appreciated. I've about got the boxes done but the furniture has me in a tizzy! :wah

Our shippers used a kind of bubble wrap that is breathable (v small holes in the bits between the bubbles) and has a film on both sides (unlike bubble wrap that has a film on one side only).

I must take a pic as the quantity that we have in our garage is kind of unbelievable.

I don't know why you can''t use blankets. No MAF reason, and Oh my god all those blankets we inadvertently smuggled in.

Jon,
To clarify, you're saying that your movers are using that bubble wrap to wrap all of your large pieces of furniture? For example, how do we wrap my dresser? Or a 7' tall chest?

The movers want to charge money by the cubic foot to wrap each piece of furniture. I think we calculated that the one tall chest we have would cost well over $100! When you add up all the furniture we have, it comes out to a pretty penny unless we wrap all of the furniture ourselves. Just seems weird to use bubble wrap or paper on every piece...
