Hi All,

Just want to float an idea:

Andy has just realised that next weekend's NW meet on the 21st coincides with the FA Cup final. What are your thoughts:
- stick with Saturday (but be prepared for very busy pub)
- stick with Saturday - meet at midday rather than 1pm
- change meeting to Sunday

Sorry guys, know this is very late in the day to try to rearange all your busy social calendars ;) But hey, thought I'd mention it any way.

Hope you've had a great sunny Saturday too, here's to a sunny Sunday :nice1

See your concern Babette, but i don't think its the type of pub that attracts that clientele, but i could be wrong. I remember when England played Wales and we had a meet on that day and pub was quite empty. I say go with what we have, but will go with the flow.

OK .... sorry to sound thick but where's the cup final being played?

Remember the first meeting we ever had, there was some big fottie game that day and it took us forever to get to the pub.

Anyway, we can make any time or any day. If we still meet on the Saturday we'll probably come cross country instead of motorway then (hopefully) there'll be no probs.

Just let us know what day/what time .... we'll go with the flow.

Hey Babette, are you going to ring the friendly landlord again and 'bagsie' that 'alcove room' for us.

Diny

Don't worry Diny, everyone, sorry a few Manc's will be going south and early at that, as the final is in Cardiff. All the rest will be going down the M4 from the Home Counties :laugh

That's ok then ... if they're not going north it won't effect us. Actually just spoken to Mark and he's made arrangements for the Sunday so it wouldn't be any good for us.

Just let us know what's happening and we'll either see you on Saturday or the next time :(

Babette,

good thinking but I think it is too close to the date really to change it.

There are quite a few coming especially new ones and as we have changed the date once already think we should keep to Sat 21st , although I may be a bit rough as I am going to the races on Fri so Sunday would have been better for us, but I am just thinking about everyone else.

I don't think the pub will be too busy but maybe some poeple could get there for 12 noon to commandeer some tables :cheers :cheers

See you all then can't wait

I also can't wait to meet the newies :nice1

If I can haul my sorry ass out of bed an hour earlier, then it will have a knock-on effect with everything I have to do before we leave - that way we may be able to make if for nearer 12 than 1 o'clock.

But hey ..... it is Saturday .... and the old fella is home after 5 weeks away ;)

See you there.

Got to agree with Jo. Setting another time or date could have consequences for the newbies let alone the regulars.

See ya all on Saturday.

Yep I have to agree, it was another good afternoon spent with you guys :nice1 Good to see all the new faces too (Rammer if you're reading this ..... your daughters hair is wonderful).

Shame about the rain, which meant the lads couldn't do the babysitting routine outside with the kids, next time maybe?

Thanks again guys - another good one ticked off.

Once again things went well, but its about time that these meets should be taking place 12000miles away. I know we have another one provisionally booked for 2 July, but lets try and get the one after that sorted for over there. What do you say guys? or am i just hoping to much. :?

Hope the new folks, Madge and kids, Miggy and family, and Baboonworld felt welcomed.

Well that sounds like one heck of a plan.

Jo ... if you haven't taken residence (of your acreage) in the Peoples Republic of Dannevirke by then, you can always all pile into Thames (unless of course we're still homeless and living out of suitcases in a motel room).

See you all on 2nd July if not before ....... looking forward to it :nice1

Great to see everyone again, and so many new faces too :nice1 :nice1

Have you guys noticed though, that there seems to be more and more non-NZ type topic conversations going on at our meets. Intriguing jokes about telling time (Jo - can't put the full joke down here  )

Kim - all for your idea, didn't know about the 2nd of July suggestion though. Will put it on the calendar quickly.

Babette, Andy, Lianne & Amy

Kim39
23rd May 2005, 10:16 AM
Just to answer to Babette's query about these meet's no longer being NZ related. Well that could be because as this one was the 4th or 5th or even 6th one we have now become friends. Needless to say that the topic of conversation is mixed as we now have other things in common. I don't see this as being a bad thing really.

If any newbies come along to these meetings then obviously if questions are asked then they would get a response, and its better to see it as a relaxed meeting rather than a formal one.

So any newbies out there who want to jump on the next meet, don't be shy and jump on board.

Sorry Babette about the date, its just that it was mentioned after you and Andy had gone,so yes pop into your diary. Saturday 2nd July.
