I was looking to get a NZ email address for my daughter so she can use it for emailing her friends once we've eventually (hopefully!) move in 2006 (please god dont make me balls up the ITA now :uhoh )

I need a free one and want one that isnt so oversubscribed that she has to have a million numbers after her name and also one that makes her feel like shes moved. www.coolkiwi.com sounded perfect but has a minimum age of 13 (Shes 9 going on 13!). Web mail is essential as it will take a while to get settled with PC's and ISP's etc.

Before I lie and sign her up anyway I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this loop or what everyone did when they moved?

I don't bother with an actual .co.nz address.

Like Veronica, I would highly recommend a Hotmail.com (not a co.uk) account. Can be used anywhere in the world, and rather than using her 'real' name with possible numbers, make up something unique - bit like a forum name.

These people seem expensive at £2 a month, I could be wrong but it looks like they are 'loaning' you an email.
If you want a 'paid' service, then you could buy your own domain name at somewhere like
http://www.virtualnames.co.uk/
For example, if you were to choose 'baboonworld.net' (.com has already been bought) it would cost £18 for 2 years. The number of email addresses you can then have at this domain is unlimited e.g. me@baboonworld.net, you@baboonworld.net, peter@baboonworld.net etc etc.
I'm sure someone else will be able to explain it more eloquently than me :oops:

You could get a yahoo.co.nz account? that has plenty of space as well as the messenger thingy for instant chats with pals.
