Anyone living in this region? We're hoping to come over at the end of the year.
But it looks like its a risky business choosing where to live as low down you'll get deluged and up high you risk being caught in a mud slide.

Any experiences or advice anyone?

No one as yet has been hurt but they have had a few scary moments.

I have just been told that it is reading 24 degrees in a friends living room in Tauranga, with doors and windows open. Very unseasonal apparently, as is the flooding.

Excuse my manners!!!
Welcome aboard Driver. I hope you find this forum as helpfull as I do.

Welcome Driver! No specific advice am certainly no expert but common sense would say avoid the areas that got flooded this time & if you're on a hillside be careful of areas with recently logged trees or no trees - more prone to slides.

Timbo - are you sure you still want to be moving to Tauranga? ;)

:laugh Hopefully, by the time the next floods happen, I will either be too old to care, or 6 feet under.
Seriously though, I really dont think one off acts of God should influence one`s choices. If that were the case, given the nature of NZ with earthquakes etc, we would probably move to Spain.
