Hi,

We have our medicals booked for next Thurs 26/05/05 at Nottingham, can anyone tell me if the children will have to have the blood tests (6yrs, 5yrs, 3yrs, and 1yr)? If they do do they numb the area first with some gel or anything? OK stop laughing at me  I have just taken my youngest for his MMR and I had a job to hold him still my eldest has just had to be referred to a specialist dentist as she was petrified in his chair :uhoh Having had 4 kids I am used to blood tests now :laugh but I just don't know how I am going to get them to keep still while the needle is in their arm (Thats if they get as far as that :uhoh )
If anyone has already had their meds done with kids, I would like to know what was involved and how you/they went on?

Many Thanks
Michelle

Robothamma,

kids don't have to have the blood test :nice1 , unless the rules have changed. Have a look at your ITA pack it should say so in there or on the NZIS site.

Good luck

Jo

Is that 15 and up, or 16 years and older?
(Have a 15 yr old who's scared of needles) :?

:uhoh Well it will be fun, last time he had to have a blood sample taken, I think we needed 5 to hold him down.
Not a pretty sight! He's grown a bit taller and stronger now, so I'm imagining what will happen now.
Maybe a slight sedation is in order I don't know, he's about as tall as his dad now...(6"1'? - 1.78m)
We think the needle and blood fear origins from when his tonsils were taken out when he was 7...
Bit of a traumatic story, too long to tell here ;)
