Hi,

I am currenlty based in Britain and am seriously considering a move to New Zealand with my young family. I do qualify as per the self-assessment tests.

I need some advise on a few things
1. The time taken for the process of documentation
2. Costs involved in the entire process in £
3. Employment opportunities
4. Children education.

I do apologise for being pendantic but as one would appreciate that it is a big decision. Any guidance will welcome.

Thanks

vivek

Hi Vivek, I not the worlds best to answer your questions but if you give some further info it might help one of the others.......
for the total cost .... that would depend on which route to immigration you take, I know the medicals cost a lot so how many in your family...

job opportunities.. what line of work are you in cos that varies with the occupation...

Time taken would depend on how straight forward your application is, from your name it would suggest that you are not a british national and that may take more time...

Education.. how old are your children...

a lot of the info you want is hidden in the NZIS web site and on the old forum and it may be that a good search through will answer your questions. it may take time and effort but its not a spoon fed process and each of us has a different application that is personal to us so its not something that can be set to a formula. good luck

Hi Vivek,

How's the Bull Ring, Spaghetti Junction and Broad Street Nightlife? :?

You guessed it I'm a Brummie!

To briefly answer your questions!

1. Time for documentation, assuming you have collated all the necessary docs and are referring to processing time....about 3 months from being selected if you go via London NZIS but processing times will change depending on demand which will increase as the selection point reduces and more are selected. Police checks take 60 days to get and are valid for 6 months, Meds take 7-10 days befpre you get all your docs back and are vaild 3 months. Don't arrange these until selected.

2. Costs, See the NZIS website and search under fees. For a family of 4 and from memory, EOI submission (NZ$315) about £120, medicals £350-400 approx, Police checks £10, Processing and verification after selection (ITA=invitation to apply) £520 for a family of 4, migrant levy £115/person. Shipping costs and insurance of personal effects anywhere between about £1000 ( for a small groupage shipment) to £3-4K for a 20 ft container to £5-6K for a 40 ft container, door to door. Search old forum forum for more info!

3. Employment...depends very much on what you do, where you want to be and what your expectations are?

4. Children's Education, very good facilities but dependent on where you live to get into the best state schools! Lots of private schools also at a fraction of UK costs! Early childhood education is everywhere and is of a very high standard. Pre school fulltime care in private Educare/kindercare Nursery NZ$180/week (£60/week) approx 7:30 to 5:30., Community creche's $11 per session two sessions per day, donation system applies, Playcentres $30/term but you have to go through ECE training which is free and part of the process of getting involved with Playcentres.
