Wow. Just caught up on the posts. Fab fab fab house. I like it loads more than the other one you nearly got. Not too sure about the bathroom blue though, a bit bright for my tastes (just call me Magnolia Girl!! ).
And congrats :raebanana on the moderator job. 'Bout time I'd say.

Wow Helen, I've just come back from a chilly but very enjoyable (3inches of snow) week at Centerparcs Sherwood Forest to all your great news :nice1
Congrats on your house, looks wonderful, bet you're on countdown to the 1st of April. ITA - :hopeso you'll hear something during the week. And Lounge Moderator - well deserved :clap :clap
Have a great weekend.

Moorf,
Congratulations on your house :nice1
I've got to agree with Diny; Heaps more character! I particularly like the fact that this one doesn't have aluminium windows. (Pet hate of mine)
And the garden looks fantastic, I'd almost consider moving to Chch for those prices!
I'm sure you'll both be very happy there.
How long is the drive to Sumner for your job?
Miep
Moorf
26th February 2005, 11:38 PM
Thanks Miep... drive to Sumner is approx 10-15 mins - did a test drive just the other day in "rush" hour :nice1 So, by the time I order my panini and coffee for brekkie I should be at the deli in Sumner just as the froth is put on the coffee :laugh :nice1

Congrats Moorf - que sera, sera. The house is really beautiful and the first thing I noticed was that it's got 'proper' curtain rails :nice1 That's the one thing I hate about most of the houses you see on Realenz etc. the window dressings hardly ever look nice.

Well, we got our house and now.....
WE HAVE RESIDENCY!!!
Yup, one week after I dropped in the ITA we have a letter confirming we just have to pay the Migrant Levy ($600) and we'll get our Residency Permit and RRV :raebanana :raebanana :raebanana
I feel like I've come to the end of a journey - thanks to everyone on the forum who has put up with my moaning, tolerated my often iffy sense of humour and, of course, supported and advised both Woz and I throughout the last year. :cheers

So excited - we move house on Friday 1st!! :raebanana
And guess what, I was approached about 3 jobs on Thursday.. :uhoh how weird - all in the same day and all related to marketing (my career in a previous life :laugh ). And I have never even applied for any jobs - :eek turns out a customer from the surf shop has been mentioning to her agency friends that there's a marketing bod working in her local surf shop and one of the other offers came from the guy who is looking at buying this rental - he's a property investor! :laugh
We were meant to be going away this weekend, but Summer has hurt her foot and we had to go to the vet on Saturday morning intead of heading to the West Coast - so we just did a couple of days touring the areas around Chch. So glad we did, we hadn't been out for a drive in a while and had forgotten what is on our doorstep... after 1hr 20min drive we arrived at Lake Coleridge and it was like we'd driven to Austria for the day... stunning!

It's the scenery and colours here that make the pics so stunning - and the light is amazing too. :nice1
Should have added - when we got out of the car to take this pic the air was still, the sun warm, crickets were, eerrrr, cricketing :uhoh and the scent in the air was gorgeous.. and so fresh... *sigh* We went down to the lake shore and skimmed stones - the water was so clear it was hardly there.. and the silence was deafening.
Oh, and Summer is fine thanks. She had a little blue paw bandage for a bit but it's off now and she's not limping anymore (she'd split her nail/claw badly :( ).

Well folks.. we're in! Had a knackering weekend cleaning, unpacking, cleaning and... cleaning - I really don't know why I am so fastidious when leaving our properties because no-one else seems to care about leaving their houses in a mess :?
BUT - that aside, it's lovely to have a home again - have been pottering today after Veronica took us on a tour of Super Shed and the Mission which are sort of salvage yards! I bought a lovely wooden stool for a massive $1 and Woz found us a Flymo push-mower for just $55 which looked like it had been used just once or twice! :nice1 (if you've seen my list if fruit and veg in the lounge you'll realise we have a small-ish lawn!). Summer is loving her new garden - lots to explore and new cats to chase (had one shin 15ft up the pine tree the other day :? )!
I have just lit my first fire - Woz was impressed ;) - we have had the woodburner on in the evenings and we had to open the doors the other night as the house was ... (and here's something you don't hear much on this forum...) the house was TOO HOT!!! It's a very toasty house and we're stoked. :P
The only thing that is taking some getting used to, on my part, is living in a "city" environment again which we haven't done for years. Weird to have such close neighbours!! And I am constantly worried someone will burgle us! Irrational? Hope so! But the house is set back and it's quiet - and I have a lovely view of the Port Hills from my bed!!
I guess I better sort out the house-warming now.... :clap

Sounds wonderful - post some photos of your view of the hills when you're settled - would love to see the view!
For now enjoy!!! So exciting & you're so lucky to have a woodburner - am currently sat under 3 fleece & wool blankets (with a body warmer on) - refuse to put the heating on yet! - trying to entice the warm kittens to come & sit on my lap to warm me up! Will have to make do with the laptop on my knee for the minute!
By the way - worrying about getting burgled :laugh I wouldn't worry too much - I'm sure its less likely where there are people around. We live in a house with 5 patio doors (all facing onto a public pathway - at the back of the house) & I found it really funny that instead of burgalar alarms when we went to some open homes people put planks of wood at the patio doors to stop anyone opening them from outside & breaking in!!! - typical Kiwi style that!
