Hi all,

We are searching for a place to rent, probably for a very short period in Auckland (unless we bump into a job there). We have to be in or near Auckland for at least one month, from 10th November till 5th December, because our dog will be staying in quarantine there. The holidayhomes seem to be terribly expensive, but can we rent usual houses for such a short period?

We have just booked a holiday home in orewa 25mins outside auckland, not cheap i know but we feel we will deserve a bit of a rest after the move.
Our dog will also be in quarantine from the 14th oct she will probably be coming home to us as yours is arriving. Can't say i am looking forward to sending her off but it has to be done, one comment from my daughter was if the dogs not going niether am i (very tempting :laugh) no seriously she leaves on the12th or 13th and we leave on the 20th, so she has a week without seeing us, but one of the first things we will do once we get there is visit her. Are you flying out same time as your dog ? Where are you in belgium? we are in limburg Holland.

Hi Femke,

Our dog is flying on the 3rd November, we fly on the 8th (arrive on the 10th), so she will be missing us for a week. :wah
We live about a 15 minutes drive from Baarle-Nassau(Holland), in Oud-Turnhout.
I think we better arrange accommodation for the first week in Auckland or so, and try to find something affordable once we are there.

How long will you stay in the holidayhome, and where are you heading from there?
You probably have the same petshipper too? (Our petshipper is DTC, in Rozenburg, close to Schiphol)

If someone can point me to such a motel, please let me know!! :yes.
Since we travel with 2 children, a hostel wouldn't be a good idea, I'm quite sure they wouldn't feel comfortable with it. :no

What about serviced apartments there are quite a few in Auckland very near to the centre, have no idea about the price through. I know there are some called quest in newmarket. Do a search through accomodation pages. I will ask around and see if I can find anything out for you.
