Hi All,
I've been it the IT industry for a good few years, but have never done any formal IT qualifictions. I'm therefore thinking of a HNC in Computing, but can't find much info on how worthy this is in the eyes of NZIS or employers in NZ?
Or is the Microsoft MCP/MSCA/MSCE a better route?
Thanks for any feedback.

Daffy,
Welcome to the forum. There are a few forum members who have excellent IT skills but no formal qualifications who have gone out to NZ and got a job as It skills are in shortage.
I don't know if this is an option for you but the IT bods will give you some advice I am sure :nice1 :nice1

Daffy, not an IT "bod" my line is radio and telecommunications, but looking at the ads for NZ jobs, MCSE/MCP is deffo the better option. World recognised qualification and you can "go anywhere".
Good luck mate

All depends what your aim is, the vendor certification mcses etc will help out with the job search, although they need to be backed up with work experience. The mcse, is becoming a bit of a joke these days. Due to teh large number of people coming out of asia with it, and not having real life skills.
The mcse etc, will get you no points with the NZIS however, if you're looking for points, then do the hnc

Thanks all, it does seem that HNC/D is seen better by the NZIS, and I agree with the MSCA/E comments as there are so many exam websites now.
I have 10+ years experience so I guess an HNC would be a good move.
Thanks again.

My IT expereince is mainly in CAD IT
That is support, training, etc on Computer Aided Design systems; AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop, NavisWorks, etc.
I also have a lot of general experience with IT, such as desktops and office apps, etc, as well as a bit of networking and servers.
Cheers
