Obviously there are - but how are you getting on?
Am coming over in September job searching in Auckland - told by agency it's the best time.
I want to ask lots of questions re planning, resources, curriculum and wages etc.
Also would be good just to talk!
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Carol
Cheers for answering.
One big question I'd like to ask is - with NZQA, were you given level 7?
I've spoken to my agent and they've said that everyone is put on that level if they're a fully qualified primary teacher and that when I get paid, they will add my years of experience to it - ie I've had 5 years, therefore should end up on level 12.
Also, how much is there in the form of resources out there? Do the schools provide it or have you had to rely on your own stuff?
Can't think of much more at the mo.
Thanks a lot for getting in contact.
All the best - Sue

Hi Sue...I honestly can't remember - but I DO remember being VERY miffed that I was put on the grade I was. Apparantly they give you half a year for each year of service you have had.
We had friends over to dinner last night......one of them works at NZQA - I'll ask him when he gets out of bed. :yes
Resources.......
Yes plenty here - I brought tonnes and wished I hadn't because so much of it is aimed at "British" kids and isn't appropriate.
That said - when I was on holiday in England in January I bought QUITE a lot - particularly for numeracy and literacy as I thought they were incredibly cheap.
Anything else I can help with just ask....

Thank you very much for your reply.
I will ask more questions when I get my self sorted!
Very busy at the mo. I finish on Friday and it will be a sad, yet exciting day!
I'm then off next day to Scotland with my friends for a week.
When I get back, it'll be car boot sales and clearing out and packing etc!
Oh - one question though - did you transfer your pension?
Thanks once again for your help.
Cheers.

yes they do Marie........they are called Teacher Aides here.
I have a very strong working relationship with mine - they are often involved in planning etc especially with high needs children.
At least they are in our school - cant speak for everywhere - but I think it is a great thing to do to show how much you value their input.
Only thing is their wages are terrible!
About $10-$11 per hour I think.... :eek :eek :eek

Thanks Carol .
I have just been a stay at home mum for 13 years ,childminding for the last 5 years .
But I think [well OH thinks ] that I will have to work when we move ,so a school job would be ideal as I would get the holidays too .

One of my wonderful teacher aides has just taken on a part-time job in the school office - she loves it - but I miss her..... :(
That's a good job to look out for too Marie if you are looking for school holidays off.
