Hi all,
does anyone know if it is ok to take cookers to NZ (with MAF being picky about food, didn't know if they would allow cookers)

Every house we have seen comes supplied with a cooker, but some of them are in a bad way. I think its a law all house have to come with one.

If its an electric one bring it, it may well be in better condition than whats here, and there is no gas at all here.

As long as it is clean, you should be fine, after all the same argument could be applied to fridge freezers and microwaves?

no gas , are you sure ?maybe you were talking about auckland? my dinners nearly ready and i didnt cook it with electric!!

unless you live in the sticks gas is fairly common its called 'town' gas for obvious reasons.

My parents live in Massey (West Auckland) - and they definately have gas. They heat their water and cook with it!! But it is only in the last 6 years or so that it has been available where they are.

Not all houses have a gas supply, even in towns.
There may be gas in the street, but unless the house has had a gas appliance at some-time, it may not be piped into the house.
You may therefore need to get the gas board to connect the service.
