I will be leaving Heathrow on Friday night for Christchurch (via Singapore) on a Job Hunting trip until Monday 20th June. I have lined up 4 interviews, plus have some addresses of Printers to cold call. :clap
If anyone in Christchurch knows of any label (Flexographic) printing companies, please let me know. :nice1
Also if anyone would like to meet up I will be staying at Veronicas backpackers for the duration, plus will try and get on forum :cheers
So fingers crossed that I get a job and the house sells while i'm out there, then the next flight out will be a permenent one!!! :exit

Dropped Martyn off at airport OK last night :clap ... oops I mean... :wah.
He should be arriving at Singapore Airport at about 11am today (UK time), where he is meeting my sister (as she has business trip...small world!!!) After three hour stop-over for his flight to CHC, which arrives at 10:40am Sunday NZ time. :nice1
We've packed some bisto & knorr veg cubes for Veronica and a box of Cadbury's Hero's Chocolates for any of you chocoholics out there...but hurry they won't last long!!!! :eek
Well i'd better pop in the Estate Agents and hurry them along a bit...and hopefully we will be following Lisa & Andy (who fly out today) in the not tooooooooooo distant future

Hello everyone, well its Wednesday night (in UK & Thursday morning in NZ!) , Martyn's been in CHC for nearly 4 days. Seems a lot longer as he left on Friday night!!! :wah
We have been texting each other everyday, however I rang him at the Drifters this morning & he seemed in good spirits...well he should be he has been offered two jobs so far! :clap :clap :clap He didn't get very good vibes from the 1st one, but the 2nd one he seems very excited about...its in Heathcote near Sumner (a very nice area apparently...i'm sure I have seen good reports on the forum). One of the guys there has even offered to show him the best areas and schools. :nice1
He has been given a contract for both companies and asked to go back on Friday to collect the job offers. Should he tell the 1st one that he does not want the job, or take the offer letter just in case? Would it give him more influence with NZIS if he has two offer letters?
Also I am a little confused as to whether we should apply for Work to Residence (as both companies are not on the 'accredited NZ employers' list) or just a work permit!
Lastly, a message to everyone in CHC - have fun at the meet tonight & don't drink toooo much, I want him back in one piece and with a job offer or two! Thanks Veronica for arranging it. :cheers

I would go straight for PR if you have enough points. It will give you both more flexibility, as for the 2 job offers I don't think it adds anymore influence to you application with 2. IMHO I think he is better being up front with the first employer rather than mess him about as you never know Martyn might even end up apllying for a job there one day.
Good luck

Thanks Jo b
Yes with job offer I think that brings our points up to 110/120. So yes I think we can go for PR, unless there are any clauses in the job offer i.e. salary or the points have changed since I last looked!! :?
Sorry the excitement of Martyn getting a job offer has sent me into 'negative thoughts mode'!!! Sorry couldnt think of a better way of explaining it......I keep thinking we can't be a step nearer...I must have missed something!!! :uhoh
Well i'd better stop babbling and go to bed, it's 11 Oclock and I need my beauty sleep!!! :laugh :laugh

How exciting Karen and Martyn. Things are happening. I'd definately look at PR as you can then change jobs as and when you need to rather than being tied to one employer who knows they have you by the proverbials.
Good luck with the rest of your journey Martyn.

Hi, its Karen again...Martyn is home safe and sound (with 3 job offers!!) :clap :clap :clap. The one he is going to accept is in Heathcote and does not start until October 2005 when a new printer arrives. So we have a little time to get PR and sell the house!
I picked him up from Heathrow at 5am this morning, so we both need to go to bed veeeery soooon!. (No comments please!!!)
We have been sitting at the computer for the last hour checking our EOI..and we've submitted it :nice1 :nice1
Well now we are in the waiting game!!!!
