I heard that recently NZ changed the type of diesel that is used nationally (a lower sulphar rating) and as a result diesel cars pre 1999 have trouble consuming the new fuel.

Has anybody else heard of this problem? Can anybody confirm?

Hi Diny - I read an article online reference this a few months ago, URL: http://www.autocar.co.nz/autonews/autonews.asp It is or has been introduced but I spoke with the mechanics here at the Barracks where i work and they explained that cars pre 95 may suffer injection pump seal failures (not too serious they say) due to the reduced sulphur, they advised to get the car serviced after a few months driving over there.

Thanks for that info Steve, will bear it in mind. Will be spending alot of time there alone (hubby working overseas) and the last thing I want is a car that's constantly conking out on me.
