all of you in the UK NZ or other parts of the world who have internet connections of over 30 ish kbytes and like to phone home have a look at this site. A friend in the Uk has put us on to it and it looks promising, if you phone someone who is not in the scheme its very cheap calls, if you phone someone who is in the scheme its free.

I've used Skype to phone my brother in Germany.. wasn't too impressed. It works, if you can get used to the delay in voice transmission. We went back to regular phone with a very inexpensive provider!!
All the best, Rae

On slow dial up at mo so not sure it wil work for us but have heard its good on a fast speed connection.
We are using telecom they have an access number to dial think its 0161 instead of the 00 and its 19c a min, sure phone cards are cheaper, they also have talk for as long as you want for $4.

Hi, Michelle,
That's true.. we have high speed cable, but my brother has dial-up. That would make a huge difference, and thanks for pointing it out.
All the best, Rae

Keep seeing phonecards in newsagents dairys etc that seem really cheap but not sure if you can use them from a home phone. Will look into it today.

hiya michelle and Richard, Yep. cards do work from a normal household phone. get yourself a RATE SAVER card, it cost $20 and gives you about 200 minutes to phone home on a land line. Its a pain to dial as first you have to dial the access code for your nearest big town, then your pin no. that is on the back of the card and then the phone no. you want to dial. All of which seems to take forever, But it does work out very cheap and its paid for in advance so lessening the nasty phone bill syndrome. You can pick them up in most diaries and some garages. we have had two types, the most common is a card like a phone card but we have also had one that looks like a till receipt but it has got the relevant access and pin no. on it.

We use a "Freinds" phone card $20, and we get 4c/min to the UK. A bit of a delay but you get used to it and it's a good line!
