Gosh that is a lot. We had estimates from removal companies at an exhibition and they quoted £2,500-£3,000 for a forty footer.

I guess that was just to get their 'foot in the door'.

Oh well more stuff to flog on ebay :typing before we get firm prices.

Did they give you an estimate for how many cubic metres they thought you needed?

We had three estimates, two companies estimated at around 1000 cubic metres, the other at 1200. A 20 footer can take 1100.

It's worth getting a few estimates just to make sure you do need a 40 footer.

Good luck!

Thanks for that Adamsat

I didn't know there was much in it another guy from Brittania came today and said we would 3/4 fill a 40 footer but I really need to listen more.

Jo, We used GB liners and even tho our stuff arrives on Wednesday :clap , they were fantastic. Our friends had them too and they accidentaly scratched her table, told her to get it fixed with french polisher here and send the bill. $800 later they paid straight away and she says its fantastic.

We paid 3,500 pound for a 20ft. Really nice guy who came round too. No b***s*** I thought.

Even tho we had an itineray they packed all sorts that I forgot to list.

Even better it has only took 4 weeks for the ship to dock!!!! :nice1

We have met someone who's stuff arrived on wednesday too from GB liners, I was there at hers when they were un-packing her stuff. She has lent me lots of her stuff and it smells as fresh as it did when she packed it.

They put T-bags in your fridge to keep the moisture down, fridge was great when it got here.

Good luck in who you pick.

If you want to save some money we used a company in Auckland that specialises in port to door services. They took care of our customs and MAF documentation and delivery of the container from the port to our front door, where we unloaded it and then they arranged for it to go back to the port. They could quantify port service charges, which our shipping company couldn’t and saved us $400.00 on MAF fees – we paid only the actual fees. The managed to answer our questions when the shippers couldn’t, have done it themselves and so know the worry. Very personal service and extremely competitive
