Sorry - don't often post negative posts but I've had enough!

I haven't had a decent night's sleep in weeks, I've felt sick for the entire week.... and I'm soooooo fed up with this house selling/buying lark!

Our UK house has been up for sale since October last year - we left the UK in January this year & have been paying NZ rent and UK mortgage for the last 6 months which has sent us watching our savings go down the pan quite quickly.

We found a buyer in February and then 4 weeks into the process it all fell through - being told that the buyer hadn't declared a debt & he couldn't get a mortgage.

We got 2 offers at the end of April & we decided not to tell anyone for a while so as not to jinx it! We accepted one offer from a first-time buyer - under what we wanted - but with an agreed (by solicitor's letter) completion of 10th June... Well that date has come & gone with no completion (which didn't surprise us) but we've not yet exchanged. We weren't too worried as nothing ever runs to plan & thought we'd be exchanging & completing this week at the latest.

In the meantime - thinking that everything was going through alright & that we'd have the money in our account by the end of this week - we went out at the weekend looking at houses and had our offer on a house here accepted.

We just heard from our estate agent who told us 2 days ago we'd definitely exchange by the end of this week that we're now going to exchange by Tuesday next week to complete a whole month after we were going to originally. I feel completely sick & stressed that every day I get up thinking something's going to have happened & at last I'll be able to sleep properly without all this worry going on. :(

Every night I go to bed but can't sleep as I know its a working day in the UK so am wondering what's happening back home.... wide awake by 3am wondering if there's an update on e-mail for me.

We can't even get excited at the prospect of the house we're hoping to buy as we still don't know if the sale at home is going to go through. I've decided if the sale & purchase does go through I'm not moving again - EVER - someone's going to have to carry me out of that place in a box!

Right Winge over! Sorry but had to get it all off my chest somehow!

Really sorry to hear of all the stress this is causing - hope it goes through this time.

IF it doesn't have you considered one of these companies that buy houses to sell them on again - I know they only offer a % of what it's worth (80 perhaps) but may at least ease some of the pressure.
Just a thought

Sarah

This is so spooky. Have just read your posting and the similarities with our situation are remarkable.

Like you, I haven't posted anything for fear of jinxing things. But needless to say, I'm right up there with you on the sleepless nights and the sick feeling.

PM me if you need to let off steam.

Fingers crossed for you.

Keeping my fingers crossed and wishing all those that have the house for sale lots of luck :nice1 (imagine those are crossed fingers will you?)

I can't even think of putting that sign in the garden yet, we're still waiting to get our EOI successful, not that I would not want to hammer that sign in right now, but... gotta be sure eh, we don't want to end up on the street, cause they lost our EOI on the way from NZ to London or something...

I hope this situation gets better for you. I can't think of anything practical to suggest except for crossing my fingers too!

Oh could you rent out your UK house if all falls through, just to cover the mortgage?

Everything crossed now.

Yes Biddy - but we've already dropped £35K I really don't want to lose any more money!

We also thought about renting the house but, we'd just redecorated the house & it was immaculate - I didn't want tennants adding wear & tear to it or possibly breaking things; if we had rented it people looking round are often put off in case they have a problem in getting the tennants out - if its rented it'd be for a period & the estate agents would get a bit more complacent & not so desperate to sell it! We need the dosh out of it so we can buy somewhere & pay off some debts & get settled properly here.

We've heard this morning (we were supposed to be exchanging again today) that we'll be exchanging next Tuesday although I'll believe it when I see it! & won't be completing until sometime mid July. Its infuriating since the deadline date was last week but hopefully everything will start to move next week & we won't lose out on the house here.

May i add my congratulations too. Thought we would be having plenty of those coming our way soon, but it ain't going to happen as our buyer pulled out yesterday. Very strange really as we thought we had the perfect buyer, but things are sent to challenge us and we have to face up to this challenge along with many others here.

Well done :clap :nice1

Really interesting reading about selliing your house. We're still in the UK and have the house on the market. Very little interest so far and I've got a feeling this is going to hold us up getting to NZ. Interested to know if you could go back would you have waited if you could to sell your house before moving. We've lowered our price but don't want to reduce any more becuse this is our only chance to have a big lump sum to take with us. Any comments very welcome..........this is my first post, keeping my fingers crossed for everybody in the same position. our ITAs sent off and just waiting to hear from NZIS.
Cheers

Hello Rooty, hope i dont jinx this - but we should complete on the 21st, we got a buyer, had to drop the price, but we worked out the difference in the sale price against the monthly payments that we would have to pay out while we found a buyer who could pay more, and cut our losses.

THE comments that Sarah said about the STRESS is SOOooo True!

I have not sat down in a fortnight (I am on hold for the gas company at the minute :laugh )

so if you get a buyer then grab them with both hands and start praying to the House gods!
