Well thats the survey all done and I cannot believe how the guy rushed round the house :eek
He came in at just after 9.00 dashed around stuck a probe against a few walls to check for damp poked his head in the loft for less than a minute ,by 9.24 he was shaking my hand and going :yes
I dont know what they charge but it must be a fantastic hourly rate
When I asked if he had found anything he said "nothing that will affect the price" :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap
thats another step nearer going :cool :cool

It's money for old rope isn't it?

When our buyer had a full blown survey done on this house we were whacking ourselves worrying about what he would find.

We were told that the survey would last between 1 and half and 2 hours and they would need access all areas.

On the day, the (extremely poe faced) surveyor came around, did pretty much as you have mentioned above, then left ..... he was here all of 35 minutes.

I wonder whether he charged our buyer for the full time quoted?

When the report came back it made a recommendation that the buyer has the electrics checked out. This suprised us as we've recently had some major electrical work done, and we have the very latest all singing all dancing consumer unit in the garage.

Apparantly they very often say this in their reports as a way of covering themselves. We had a valid electrical cert so we just sent a copy to the buyer and all was fine.

Fingers crossed for you !!!

Good luck Wayne! The survey time is always a bit of a worry.

We had our survey done & not being in the country you have no idea how long they spend there or what they have seen/done - our house was built in 1897 so as you can imagine lots of things that they could pick up on but the buyer (obviously a bit crazy) only had a valuation for the bank :eek - no survey - maybe the agent mentioned that Ian's a surveyor & they assumed it must be alright! :laugh

Surveyor's just been. 20-25 minutes. Did a lot of poking about and when asked if it went ok he said it was fine and the report will be typed up and sent out today. Just had to make sure it was worth/up for the same price as other houses in our area. He seemed to be very open with me but then I/he realised that the survey wasn't for a remortgage but for a sale.

Just hope everything keeps ticking along at this pace/lack of stress level.
